  • Love this project Owen, it's coming along nicely.

One question though, did you put any thought into fabbing some sort of skid underneath the front trussing/ram mount? The way that plate creates almost a right angle in relation to the axle itself seems like it could potentially be a big hang up. It appears to be pretty high up though, so you may not be too concerned with it. Just thinking out loud.

yea... I wish... I'll get it done and take it out this fall, if there are any SIS runs.

Thanks, yeah I thought about that too, I didnt feel like adding anymore weight to the front axle, so I didn;t do anything. We'll see how it works, I can always add more.

its 100% duty cycle lol... the only stuff I have MIG welded was the axle brackets to save some time. I am only running a #9 air cooled torch, its nice for doing all the tube welds and stuff on the frame, you get way stronger vertical and overhead welds with the TIG. The Ballistic Shave kit I stick welded with 7018. Thanks for the compliments, I am working on becoming a code welder.

Welded up some little tie rods...

Welded a new fill hole in my front diff cover, made it out of a 1/2" x 1" bushing.

Painted them both and installed! (after an hour or so of fiddling with the shims to get the clevises line up on the ram)

Clocked the Stak and bolted it on!

              Ground clearance way better

Started cutting the hood to clear some shock hoops, going to have to cut a little more I think but it should look kinda neat

I have a Hobart 200 MIG and a Miller Maxstar 152 TIG/stick with a snap box, I paid under 1000 for each machine.

I work with guys that make my welds look like a joke, but I don't think it can be taught past fundimentals... you can either do it or you can't (my opinion)

I am a relative newb myself, this project has been a great learning experience for me.... thanks for the kind words.

I have been too busy to update this past week but got a few things done. Tommy, a few others, and myself tossed the cage in, 5 guys total, went great.

Got some bolts in it and immediately started using some masking tape... this stuff works great!

This is going to be tube.

                          New body line

Hacked off the rear section of the frame.

Cut some unneeded tube out, set up the rear axle ~107" wb but that could change, I have to start messin with the 4link calc again.

It was dovetailed before, going all tube this time. Going to skin over what I can, my friend Chris just gave me about a 3'x20' piece of 14ga aluminum I was going to skin it with. Rear shocks are Fox 2.0x16" Air Shox mounted somewhere on the tube.
