Sm465 is about 13" long, SM420 is 10.something. No worries, its for the better, I need to be able to fit my jeep in my garage, not have the garage packed with parts.

Ordered hte PSC kit today with a pump and 8" stroke 2.5" double ended ram I am going to be able to lose a lot more frame in the front with this setup.

      • Nope I was building some stuff for my kitchen in there, its is fairly messy. I am trying to get my wood shop setup in the back room of the house. I also have to finish the sheet metal for my backhoe so I can get that outta there... soon enough.

How much you find it for?
This seams like a good idea
Like you said, with the steering out of the way, the four link may be easier.

Bought it from LetzRoll Offroad in AZ. I am terrible weith names I think its Andy. I met him at the Jeep Rally in Somers. He has a Thanksgiving sale on PSC and some other stuff, ending today. The kit was $1250 shipped.

My goal is to get the jeep lower 4-6", linked front and rear with air shocks. The biggest issue right now with lowering it is I will have no uptravel, the axle will hit the frame. I am going to cut the frame off forward of the engine mounts and rear of the rear link mounts and just run tube up high. I didn't want to worry about mounting my steering box. Plus I have not heard a single bad think about this kit.

Well you still have to mount the control valve, but i dont think that puts any stress on the mount like a steering box does.

I was thinking that with full hyrdo the axle would not try to move side to side as much when steering becasue it wouldnt be pushing on the frame. Is this correct?

You can basically mount the steering valve anywhere, closer to the pump and cylinder the better so you have to run less hose. And yes it basically puts no stress on where you mount it, it really doesn;t do much more than direct hydraulic flow, where a steering box is pushing/pulling off of the surface to which it is mounted. Some people even mount them right behind their steering wheels, but then if you have a hose rupture, you can get sprayed. Kinda like the whole mechanical guage mounted in a cab debate.

You are also correct in that it will not try to move side to side as you steer. The ram is doing all of the work, and the ram is mounted to the axle. Obviously it is important to build a burly mount for the ram on the axle. That is the fun part...fabricating.

                      • Thanks dude, im not buying this yet but i think i will when i am redoing my four link. For now i still need to buy a welder and learn how to weld. So that is step one.

                        • Cool, you can do a lot more with a welder... I am sure this stuff will be on sale again. You probably can piece a kit together a little cheaper if you spend some time. I just don't have the kind of time I used to.

                          • Well it runs and drives again (for the time being). I got all pumped saturday thinking I might be able to go wheeling. Everything is working, except I can't get my radiator cap to seal in the filler neck... the neck got a little tweaked when I rolled into the tree on CV trail, but it had no problems sealing up until now... oh well, I will have to find a shop to get it fixed.

Working on getting the garage cleaned out/finishing up some small projects so I can start tearing it apart inside, hopefully within the next couple of weeks.

Ordered some Ballistic ends and tube inserts for my front arms tonight while they were on sale...hopefully they won't take 2 months like my last order.

                            • Just curious, was this thing not running/ driving/ being wheeled because of damage from the roll? Or was it more like no time and stuff like that?
Watch your backhoe, I'm the John Deere man.

Well, I broke my transfer case in half in August, and then had limited time to source another transfer case and install it. I work alot, my job is very demanding sometimes. This thing is very fun for my to get in and wheel after long weeks at work etc. I guess this time around I want to make sure I don't have catastrophic breakdowns that keep me out of the game for months. If I don't get to wheel it, I get cranky!
