  • I have been debating what to do with my upper link. It is too long and there isnt enough separation at the frame side. I want it on the frame and off the x-member like the lowers. I debated for a while and came across ruffstuffs 3 legged bracket. Being poor I decided to make something similar, because I think it will work.
Im going to plate the inside of the frame with angle iron, but up the frame and across the floor. Tied into the bottom stiffener. So this mount will be wended the angle up the frame and across the floor.
I have to clean it up a bit and round off the tab better but I think it will due.
Its 3x3 1/4" wall square tube with one side cut off. Then I cut 2, 3/8" thick tabs that fit inside. I welded one in and tacked the other, I need to put my mock up joint in to make sure the spacing is right.
Then I can weld it in and shorten the upper arm.
    Dan.

              • Did a little work today. Got the inside of the frame plated and ready for my new upper link mount. I forgot to drill the holes out to 5/8" and didnt have one at work so I didnt get to weld the actual mount in.
Looks like its going to come out pretty nice though. Kind of wish I got to weld it in, but eh, next weekend I guess.

                          • Sooo Im going back and forth on a few things.
One. Sell jeep, and buy v8 ZJ. Start over and do some things differently.
Two. Sell front axle and t-case. Buy pass drop D60, 5.86-6.17 gears, regear D70, and do 231/300 doubler without flipping 300.
Its been on my mind for a long time to get another 67-72 pickup. With the price of them continuing to go up Im debating selling the Xj, buying a truck and stock ZJ, and making a new long term project.
V8, pass drop 60, 70 rear, 6.17's, linked front and rear, 40's etc.
I like to drive my jeep and the 4.0 isnt cutting it. But with 6.17's it probably would. 6.17's and a v8 would be great though.
Maybe I should just save my pennies and buy the truck I want and leave the Jeep alone. I dont know. Selling the front axle is looking very appealing.
Someone tell me what to do lol.

                            • KEEP the XJ and buy the truck 67-72's are going up and I love that body style, I do see a few 6cyl's on cl for a pretty good deal so that would right up your ally as long as there's little to no rust.

Yeah, thats the thing, finding one around here thats not a total piece of shit. I have owned 7. I have yet to actually have one on the road. (well once i did, but my friend drove it while we fixed his 69 for about 3 weeks)
Maybe Ill just save my pennies and try to find another one.
Its easy to build another Jeep, its not as easy to find a decent c-10.
