Couple crappy pics from today.
Getting shifters mocked up
X-member will have to come back out and get notched. Just wanted to get it up there. I will also be building a new X-member over winter, with a rear x-member to hold the D20 and most likely double as a traction bar mount.
Got the shifters mounted. Not going to be permanent, but its works pretty well for now.
Rear shaft is in. All I really have left to do with the cases are fill them, and notch the x-member for the front driveshaft.
So now Im really just down to the steering. I really want to buy the complete PSC kit but after looking at some things today I realized it came with some stuff that I dont like. I didnt realize that it comes with the small clevis kit and the steering kit isnt really as beefy as I think it should be. So through them to get the bigger clevis kit and their heavy duty steering kit (7/8" heims and .25" wall DOM) is another like 150$
I have a friend with a DE ram and I PM'd some people about orbitals and other parts.
Looks like if I get his ram, and buy the orbital, mount, colums adapter and misc. parts I need from LII or someone and buy the steering from Ruffstuff I can save some good money. I have to look into making the stock pump work with it for now too.
Well one chunk down. I just ordered a PSC 2.5x8" ram, with 4 mounts, and a 7.3ci PSC orbital. I need a few more parts but Im going to piece it together.
I dont like some of the parts that come in the kit so I will be doing my own hoses, and building tie rods with ruffstuff heims and 1.5" DOM.
I will be using a nodded stock pump for now. I have been talking to some people and you can get the same 1600 psi out of the stock pump that the psc makes. So for free ill try it. Worst case I use the spare pump I have or buy a psc.
With the 7.3ci orbital and 8" ram it should be 2.5 turns lock to lock. So just like stock. And slow enough to be controllable on the street for the fee times I drive it.
Small update. Besides the ram, I got my PSC orbital, mount, extra clamps, and all my hoses and fittings.
I just ordered a -6 to 16mm o ring fitting for the power steering pump and I should be able to order the rest of my parts after this weekends axle job.
Going to be ordering Artec's ram mount also. It should make it a really nice, clean install.
Once all that is together the only thing that is left to do is lenghten the front driveshaft and notch the x-member.
Im hoping to be done to make a run to Hebron, and then maybe Mabell before the end of the year. Id really like to make rausch again too but we will have to see how funds come in.
I got almost all of my parts in Friday. Truss didnt show up which is what I really need to get this thing done.
I did get some work done in the meantime though.
I had to modify the orbital mount I had bought. So I got that fixed and welded, got the orbital and column adapter bolted together and bolted in to the Jeep.
I also got the pressure line made and ran from the pump to the orbital and the return from the orbital through the cooler.
I also assembled the clevises and ram to check everything out.
