    change your mindset, you should.

    my .02:

do everything. dont say no to anything (unless its crack or a hooker you KNOW has the hiv) and have fun. fuck class, fuck homework, life is more important. get your shit done for classes and then just have a good time and you wont regret it. well, you might the next morning but yea that aight. you will never ever have this opportunity again, you have four years dont waste any time.

this, is far more honest a statement then you will get from anyone else. Take this advice if its the only thing you get from this thread. How many times have i seen people who threw away their lives for college and ended up with a good job in the end, but no social support structure around them. College is youre time to live, so do it up

go to a good tech based school, that way you dont come out of college hung over and a shitty degree like history or something.

i went to Wentworth Institute of Technology, and have a bachelors in computer science, it paid for itself with the job i have now

college was the best time of my life... do everything you want, because shortly there after....... you cant. dont be 30 and kicking yourself in the ass, because that will happen

I went to Quinnipiac U from 2000-2005 w/ deg in Marketing/Management. I would NOT have gone there if I had to pay... thank you grandparents & parents. I also would NOT have gone there if I hadn't had a g/f in high school. Started out I went home every other weekend and by the end of my frosh year... Don't think I went home for the last 2 months because I was having too much fun @ school. QU = 2/3 wominz 1/3 dudes = WIN. I applied to VA Tech, Marist, Penn State, U Del, URI, UConn, & QU. UConn & Marist rejected. Wouldn't change the fact that I stayed close and went there... but my advise.
Go far away. Get the fuck out of this state & section of the country. Go somewhere not within 500 miles of CT & don't pay for it if you don't have to. I've never lived anywhere other than CT for 27 yrs & college is a chance to experience living somewhere else.

EDIT... & while far away @ school. take XJLI's advise.

I'm a freshman at Bryant University in RI. Its primarily a business school, so my major is Finance right now. Classes really arent that difficult and most nights you really have no school work to do. As long as you show up to class every day and pay attention, you should have no trouble getting a B.

My advice would be to get involved in something on campus, I joined the rugby team here at the beginning of the semester and its been great. You meet alot of people and it always provides something to do on weekends. The whole point of college is to find a balance between partying and studying. You dont want to spend your whole 4 years in a library or getting bombed every night. You have to make the most out of it.

Might as well save, in my case, 160K, and find some friends at a college nearby and just go party with them on weekends.

i wish i went somewhere i normally wouldnt be able to just go to.. college means food and hohousing and hell youmpus job too. plus youre forced to interact so unless youre completely inept you make loads of new friends. i wish i went to colorado state (which is amazing school, my friends lil bro goes there) or some state shool in norcal.

dont say "but my high school friends blah blah" the real ones will always be there, and fuck the rest of em.

hmmm... thanks for the opinions. its good to hear it from people who have experienced it in the past few years instead of guidance counselors or other older adults. gives me quite a bit to think about

not gonna go to in depth in it but ill give you my .02.

I didnt go to college because of certain circumstances that presented themselves. I joined Active Duty Air Force a couple months after I graduated high school and have been in for over two years. I get paid, I learned a skill, and I have gotten like 40+ college credits (while working full time and traveling the world) in 2 years and still plan on getting more. Tons of benefits, good experience, I wouldnt change it for the world. Im no recruiter, but if its something that interests you, PM me and ill tell you about it. And its not just the AF you should look at but all branches, I chose the AF because it fit me best , but all services will offer you the same thing.
