its called a revolution. The only thing that will cause that is the united uprising of the american people against an irresponsible and delinquint government. Which IMO is what we have here, a broken government, in need of being altered and reformed.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

Where in the law does it permit you to rebel against your country?

If the American Populous were to ever overcome their own sense of Apathy, any law on the books saying it would be illegal to go against your country would simply not do anything, especially during an armed uprising.

Jane Fonda was never tried or charged with (What I believe to be) heinous acts of Treason during the 1970s. People rebel against out country all the time through words and press and protests because it is all protected by the First Amendment.

I'm sure the Colonists were really worried about those pesky laws preventing them from starting a War against the British Colonists and if you want a more recent event, the Irish 1916 Easter Uprising. Thought not 100% successful, ultimately led to the Irish War for Independence.

Laws, executions and being tried for treason will not stop a motivated group of militants from doing what they think is right...if they can get out of their armchairs and actually do it.

People are just claiming its their rights as Americans.

It may be their rights as citizens of a government, but not specifically as Americans.

The only way people can rebel against a government is if they have support of the national military, or another world government.

And I doubt that the US military would be interested in supporting an armed insurrection.

People are always saying rebelling against the government is their right as Americans.

All I want is for someone to show me where that right exists.

Otherwise, its simply a right afforded to all people living under governments, which is a view expressed by John Locke

I just find it ironic. Of course, any government that allows revolution is doomed. So no, that right doesn't exist. Just interesting that we were discussing that particular "right" in a country formed by people who exercised it.

i dont think anyone really thinks through not only the ramifications of what a revolution would result in, but what would need to be involved to carry one out

this country will not see a forceful revolution until things are in MUCH worse shape than they are currently, and rightfully so.

I think any talk of "rebellion" is asinine to begin with, but I really don't care when people talk about it.

The only thing I take issue with is people saying its their "right" or "duty" as Americans. Just because this is America doesn't make you any different from anyone else. All I want is clarification.
