Fucking ridiculous. You know they did the same thing when Opera gave out cars on her show they taxed those cars. All this and millionaires pay less taxes than we do because they can afford to pay people to get them through loopholes.Jeeps don't get stuck ... they just take a nap when they are tired of being awesome

prizes yes.
gifts no. that's why politicians are not allowed to recieve "gifts". If there is no real money exchanged then the IRS is pissing in the wrong shitbox. There's a huge difference between a contest with a prize, like the lottery and that of a gift.
You cannot tax gifts.
Just a story the news wanted to jump on. There is no way that will actually happen.
My mom works for a tax attorney, i just asked her and she calls bullshit. No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

inheritence tax.... if you inherit it.
If i just gave you a car, then all you pay is the regular property tax that is associated with registering a car.
If i give you a ferrari and no money transfers, you don't register it and just take it to race tracks, that car might be worth 100,000 but you will not pay taxes on it because there was no physical monitary exchange. (and its not registered, special case for things of that matter)No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.
