I'm with you guys, the place is a safe haven and a bit of a time capsule. The architecture is fantastic...or whats left of it. The Bridgeport mayor claimed four times he intends on leaving the island alone (formerly named Steeple Chase Island I believe). Yet he admitted to having a crew collapse the merry-go-round and the dance hall...total bummer. I would treat that place as if it was your own home since many of those families that lived there were forced to leave with or without their belongings. Never the less, it's a awe inspiring section of beach that I too hope is never torn down and I don't believe it can be since it is a wildlife sanctuary now.

It was a pretty cool place, definitely made it cooler that it was dusk/night with some weather brewing over LI, good adventure though.

those of you interested in this place...here is a very well put together "film" about 20 mins long...the older guy in it seems very cool and very about the culture of the place...i was impressed by whoever made this..and pretty damn cool to see a film right here about a place like this, or at least about a part of the place (carousel)
