seems like an opinion thread on axle choice.

I chose the 8.8 due to availability, disc brakes, and 4.10. also i think its more beef than a 44. but thats for a cherokee.

for you, a 44 will be easier to swap (if you find one out of a TJ) and you are running 33s so I dont think strength is the issue here. I think it depends on how much work you want to do.

I agree with what RJ said. but I think its only 3/4" difference in length?????

In my opinion, go with a TJ 44 and gear to 4.88, add some skids, and wheel it. Just for ease of install.

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

I'm not sure what would be best with the 4 banger but 5.13s are also available for that. Though a lp30 is said to be weaker because the gears ride on the coast side I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong

i personally wouldnt go over 4.88 in a d30, the pinion is so damn small at that size i wouldnt want it any smaller.

I would say the 8.8 is the way to go over a D44... you could seriously wheel it without issue...

If you want it to be absolutely rediculous just drop in a super 88 kit in... chromoly axle shafts and no clips. Then you will have more than a D60 IMO and disk brakes

More than a D-60? Are you fawking kidding me with this comment? Are you seriously stating a 8.8 w/super 88 kit is more beef then a Dana 60?
