Granted, the military is not for everyone. There is lots of BS that service members have to deal with that civilians will never have to. Your boss is a dickhead in your 9-5 job, you tell him to fuck off and quit. You wanna move to a new state , you pack up and move. You wanna do whatever the hell you want. Go for it. You do lose a lot of freedoms, but its all for a cause i guess.

Me? I would have never pictured myself in the military, and still sometimes have a hard time believing what I got myself into. I hate taking orders, especially when its bullshit like work a 24 hour shift looking for a lost tool, get woken up while im sleeping to take a random piss test, ect. Sometimes I have to bite my tongue because if I dont ill get myself introube, but for the most part, the good outweighs the bad.

I agree with a lot of what was said, but first and foremost think about what you want to get out of college and where you want to end up. If you know you want to go to school but don't know what exactly you want to do make sure the place you choose has enough options for you to change majors and some broad majors that you may be interested in. In the beginning of HS I didn't think I wanted to leave Long Island because I wanted to be close to home. My parents basically told me that I had to go to college out of LI and couldn't live at home... for both the education and the life experience. Best thing that could have happened to me.

I go to University of Delaware and would give anything to go back to freshman year and not to graduate in May. Not going to lie, some semesters I literally lived in the lib and worked my ass off to get B's and C's but now my senior year is sooo easy.

Bottom line is... this is the only opportunity you get to ease into the real world and figure out what you want to do and could be the last time you really get a break. Take advantage of it. Focus on your classes but still live it up, have fun, meet new people, make mistakes. It'll be worth it.

This. That being said, I took a year off and then went to NVCC (community stylie) just to get into the whole college thing. Then I am transferring out to somewhere else when I am ready....Never left the party part out tho

first of all, i don't want to ruin anyone's hopes and dreams in this thread, but college is NOT that way. maybe at some of the bigger party schools, but DEFINITELY not at new paltz.

tom, when you came to new paltz there were no naked girls. i was there, i know exactly what we did. you found girls in a pizzeria late at night and exchanged numbers. but yes, there was lots of beer.

yes, if you go away to college you will get laid. there will be some desperate drunk freshman who just broke up with her high school boyfriend of 3 years because she just found out he was cheating on her. the easy slutty girls go after the frat guys, so if you want to wake up with some sort of STD and knowing that you just had sex with the same girl 20 of your buddies did, go ahead. i almost joined a sorority and realized halfway through that it was not for me. not because i didn't want to spend my time sleeping around with guys and granted at the time i did have a boyfriend...i have friends in sororities at many different schools, including new paltz, and they are all not cheating on their boyfriends or sleeping around with many guys at once. the purpose of joining a sorority is not to become a campus whore.

college is NOT american pie, as sam just referenced it. you can try all you want to be the stiffler of your school, but in any respectful, real, normal girls eyes, you will just be seen as a douche.

the media hypes college up to be a giant orgy and unless all the guys on here can give evidence (pics cause it happened ) that they have been a part of some crazy wild threesome with 2 of the hottest girls they've ever met, you need to open up your eyes and realize what college really is.
