  • 11.5 miles hiked. Pointing out where the road and Lamar Valley are located.

11.75 miles hiked. Pretty damn exhausted, but out of the woods and near the trailhead.

We started hiking from the Warm Creek trailhead at 1100am and were back to the Jeep at the Pebble Creek trailhead at 600pm. Around 7 hours to complete the 12 mile hike.

Both Jeeps at the Warm Creek trailhead.

Dinner spot in Cooke City, MT.

    • This hike put me over 100 miles hiked for the season.

My guidebook says the hike is 12 miles, but my girlfriends GPS was reading over 13.5 miles walked. My girlfriend now has a "stress fracture" in her left foot as a result of the hike, which was her longest of the season.

We saw only 4 people in 12 miles hiked. All within the first 1.5 miles. I really enjoyed being out in the middle of nowhere for 10+ miles without seeing anyone in one of the most isolated places in the country.

The most remote place in the lower 48 is in the southeast corner of Yellowstone National Park. There is a Ranger Station (Thorofare) there, which is 35 miles away from a road.

In addition to hiking over 100 miles during the 12' summer season. I snowboarded over 500 miles during the 11'/12' winter season.

As of this week I am currently unemployed. I am spending 3 weeks in Big Sky Montana until I "retire" to Poinciana Florida for 5 weeks prior to the start of the 12'/13' winter season.

My girlfriend has this Saturday and Sunday off from work, but is unable to hike due to her stress fracture injury.

          • At 800am we headed south from Big Sky, MT (elevation 7,510) & at 900am arrived in West Yellowstone, MT (elevation 6,663) after 55 miles of driving through Gallatin National Forest.

Took this picture around 845am 10 miles outside of West Yellowstone.

            • Entering Idaho after 65 miles of driving and crossing the Continental Divide (elevation 7,072) for the first time.

At 1100am arrived in Ashton, ID (elevation 5,260) after 110 miles of driving through Targhee National Forest and fueled up.

We headed east from Ashton towards Wyoming on a dirt road for 20 miles.

Hit "Flagg Ranch Road" after 130 miles of driving which is closed once snow arrives.

There is literally nothing for 30 miles from the Idaho side of Flagg Ranch Road to the Wyoming side of Flagg Ranch Road other than hiking trails and campgrounds.

Lake of the Woods (elevation 7,379) which is 2ish miles off Flagg Ranch Road.

There is a boy scout camp right next to the lake, which felt creepy probably because everything was boarded up. Looked like no one had been there in a month or so.

At 500pm arrived at the Jackson Lake Dam (elevation of 6,772) after 190 miles of driving.

Jackson Lake is 15 miles long, 7 miles wide and up to 438 feet deep.

The Snake River starts at the dam.

At 600pm we stopped at Signal Mountain (elevation 7,720) in Grand Teton National Park after 200 miles of driving including 7.5 miles off the main road and up a windy road.

View of the Tetons and Jenny Lake from the top of Signal. View was shitty due to smoke, clouds and the sun setting in our face.
