I had a Kel-Tec PF-9 (black with stainless slide) for a while as a daily carry and it was awesome... would eat just about anything at the range, and was reliable with any carry ammo I tried in it. ONLY downside was that it would eat up your hand after about 50 rounds (very snappy and grip is kinda sharp). I could suffer till about 150, but after that is was unbearable. For a carry gun - AWESOME... for range - MISERABLE. But... thats to be expected of just about any gun in its size and price range.
overall, I would highly recommend it for carry.
(only reason i got rid of it was bc I traded it in on my PPS)

If you have to dump more than 50 rounds into a single bad guy, you brought the wrong gun to the war.

EXACTLY... It only makes it miserable to put serious practice time in. If you pull it out for 20-50 rounds each time you go to the range... its perfectly fine.

So I've been doing more research and i can't seem to stray away from .45ACP, not sure why. I think part of my logic is that i plan on buying a 1911 down the road so I'd rather not have two different ammo types to stock up on.

The main contenders now in .45ACP are the Kahr CW45, the S&W M&P 45c
              and the Glock 36.

Other than that i still am intrigued by the idea of the KelTec PF9 almost solely because of it's size and price.

Because 45 ACP is goddamn awesome and the less calibers you have they better. Buy bulk ammo and shoot everything.

                    That's what im thinking.

Dana, do you really like the Glock better than the Kahr?

I mean the Glock is like at least 150 more

i own both and i would buy the glock again in a heartbeat.

the 36 can be had for $500-$550. I think that is a reasonable price. I almost bought a Colt, new agent lightweight. but i couldnt justify the price at the time.

but its so sexy (and extremely light)

I'm in the same spot right now, waiting for my temporary to come back. Although I'm more undecided on what I want to get first

I'm looking at the Ruger SP101 357 mag with the 2.25" barrell, love the simplicity of the revolvers and you can throw this one in your pocket if you want. I want my first pistol purchased to be one that I can CC.

Glock 36 is sweet as everyone has already said but I'm not set on 45 like it sounds like you are. I don't have any problem with stocking up on lots of different ammo. Bought a smith & wesson m&p15 a couple weeks ago and bought a thousand round box to go with it, more is better!

You can research all day and lots of people will tell you what they like but most people will give the advice that you have to go try em out for yourself.
