I have a khar p380 for super concealed carry

Glock 36 (.45) for normal concealment and backpack/hiking use

Kimber pro tactical 2, just cuz its awesome (just use it for range and home defense)

I just got the glock 36 and I like it a lot!

I also was hoping to take mine hiking. Only reason I am wary of the glock is the lack of hammer and manual safety.

Obviously if I had the chance to use one I might feel differently.

Also im not a "baggy clothes" wearer, so if I was to carry size is definitely important, which is where the kahrs and slimline glocks are nice.

That doesnt really cause an issue as long as you keep your finger off the trigger

So get an FNX-9 like mine. Hammer fired, manual safety, decocker. Can be carried cocked and locked, hammer down in double action or hammer down in DA with the safety on. Single action trigger is very good for a factory rig. Not anything like Phil's Kimber and that has ruined me on all other triggers to date. Thanks Phil.

Or the FNS is striker with a manual safety. http://www.fnherstal.com/index.php?i...detail=&cHash=

Definitely Something to take into consideration. But when it's in my bag the glock is in a holster with the trigger covered and clipped into a compartment. Another safety would be nice... So many awesome guns to chose from !

Also, I'd like to know what the big attraction to the Utah permit here is here in CT. CT doesn't even recognize it, and neither does every state bordering CT so you wouldn't even be able to travel through NY, MA and NJ with your pistol on you. If you ever got pulled over in NY or NJ with your pistol at your side and not in a trunk with 6 locks on it and disarmed, you're fucked until a Judge reviews FOPA. Utah permit is a waste of money unless you travel to any of the states that recognize or have reciprocity with Utah on a weekly or monthly basis. Worthless in New England.
Pennsylvania I go there a lot my parents have a house.
                And Rausch Creeek
Just visited my sister in law in NC Maryland and new york only 2 states I couldn't carry.
The rest of the states around us suck.
New Jersey it is 6 years for just having a hollow point.
I travel with my guns locked up and the federal law in the lock box.
Still an hour of hell every time.

As for open carry it's getting better and better.

o State Police personnel should not arrest a properly permitted individual merely for
publicly carrying a handgun in plain view.
o State Police personnel should not arrest individuals merely for publicly carrying a firearm other than a handgun in plain view'
o Exceptions to the general guidance stated above include, but are not limited to:
o It is prohibited for private citizens to possess firearms inside the State Capitol
or Legislative Office Building (Conn. Gen' Stat' $ 2-1e)'
o It is prohibited for private citizens to possess firearms in any Hartford city
park (Hartford Municipal Code Article II, Sec. 26-39). Violations should be
brought to the attention of Hartford Police for the appropriate enforcement
                action.
o State Police personnel should not request individuals to produce their pistol permits unless such individual has become the subject of a law enforcement investigative inquiry for another reason.

Just don't threaten anyone or take it out of the holster.

                CT gun laws.

As for hiking it is illegal to have a handgun in a state forest.
Unless it is a .22 during hunting season with a hunting license.

I wouldn't be worried about a Glock, as with all guns don't put your finger on the trigger would you trust external safeties and when you need it do you want to remember to turn the safety off?
Glocks have internal safeties the pin is not cocked all the way back until the trigger is pulled, and the double trigger means inertia cannot fire the gun.

Just make sure your holster covers the trigger.

                Carry on.

Afte reading what you've written Justin I see why OC is so misunderstood, as even gun owners who propose the act of carrying openly do not.

I wish half the people who claimed it was their right to openly carry did so, in fact just from reading those posts i feel inclined to open carry myself.

I don't know how often id be carrying, seeing as my two big time wasters are work and school, neither of which I could carry during.

Either way it would be nice to not have to stuff a gun in my pants if it could be OWB.

Good information, Justin, but I'd still never open carry. Concealed means concealed and I don't want people to know I have a gun on me, at all.

Keltec has a rep for being "cheap" but everyone I know that owns one trusts it enough to carry it.
