do you guys think the wear in this gear pattern is ok? its my rear 44 ring gear. changed the fluid and found a little bit of metal and there was a bit of wear on the ring gear. all thoughts welcome
To me it looks like that duller colored area is what is getting driven? Anyways that's the coast side of the gears. I'd rather see the drive side of the gears with many more pics. Get some paint if ya can. Mustard would probably work.
Either way it looks like the pinion depth is wayyyyy off.
the drive side is perfect. the only wear is the very shiny marks at the bottom of the pic on the coast side as you were saying. i refilled it already and emailed the guy who did it. hoping to bring it back up to him tomorrow to straighten it out but i wanted a second opinion by you guys so i know exactly the issue.
as i said the play between the pinion and ring is very minimal and the only wear at all are those marks on the coast side.
i was expecting metal in the fluid. the wear on the inside of the ring gear is what bothers me. corey was saying the pinion is too deep. if this is the case i'm going to have the guy who did them fix it asap
the wear on it is minimal but its enough to concern me. if it's going to wear in that way and still be strong i'm fine with it. this is just my paranoia making sure its ok.
i'd say the marks are 1/4 up the way up the coast side of the ring
