  • superior axle super 35 kit vs. ford 8.8 with 3.73?????

i recently went to change my diff fluid on my rear end(dana 35) on my 2003 tj sport. i have a 3" bds lift with all the bells and whistles and am hoping in the future to run a home-brew 4.5" or 6" long arm kit. When i went to change the diff fluid, i noticed metal shavings in the fluid and when i looked closer i noticed that the pinion mate gears are completely chewed up. So my question is do i fix this and god ahead with superior axles attempt at strengthening the notorious dana 35 or should i start working on a junkyard ford 8.8 with a dana 44 and 3.73's? ive looked at both and the costs will be about the same (about $1020 for the superior kit and about $1200 all in with all the necessary brackets and the axle itself for the ford 8.8) thanks!

yes work on a 8.8/d44 hybrid, shit will be sick

But to be serious it depends on your future goals. If you don't plan on running much bigger than a 35/36" tire, i would go with the 8.8. If you plan on going to 37's or bigger then forget all of the above and go with a 60. Rear 60's can be had dirt cheap, i got mine for 50 bucks basically (most of the time they sell for about 100)

He was also talking about doing a 6.5 long arm lift, on a tj that is easily good for 37" tires

Why not introduce yourself in the Newbie Section. Looks like you own the Jeep I see at UConn all the time.

As for the axle I wouldn't spend the money on the super 35 when you could be building a stronger axle for about the same cost

I *think* the Ranger 8.8's are 28 spline and drums?????? 95+ Explorer are 31 spline and disc.
