Hey don't grind the weld off on the gusset on the spring box even though it isn't totally structural. It still bears the load of holding that piece together. Never grind a load bearing weld or you just grind all the strength awayI don't always drink orange juice, but when I do, I prefer to chew it. #madpulp

I will give you credit for being a persistent person and not letting the haters get you down...
But i have to say that I hate that you did this to a nice jeep that worked... I know you needed a bigger front axle because you JOENITROED™ more d30 shafts than boobies at a dave matthews concert but, ya should kept the longarms and got a treks truss or something IMO.
Hope it works out for ya.Last edited by SupermanIce-J; 11-14-2010, 10:40 PM.2013 F150 fx4 (Tow Pig/DD)- 5.0 with the 3.73 option

i just ordered a set of 2.5" heavy load front YJ leaf springs and will be making my own shackle that will decrease the angle and add more arch to the leaf. i cant go to short though or it will throw off the anti squat i need for proper breaking.#becauseJoeNitro

Looks like it might be tough to do and keep the right height where you want it, but since you don't have the perches welded on yet, why not try a shackle at the rear of the spring?
Also noticed the perches are pretty far from the center of the axle. Have you tried to turn the wheel yet to see if the tires hit the leaf springs?1950 Willys Trail Rig

i may be a lil confused here but if thats an xj spring its sitting on up front right now and you put a yj spring on it it will bring the shackle in so much that you'll have no flex. yj springs are much shorter
i dunno if you've looked into waggy springs but it sounds like the perfect fit. they're 2" longer than yj springs so you can bring that shackle in a little but not loose all the flex and they supported v8's so i'm sure it will have no prob with your xj front end they also give about 2" lift on a yj so it might put your xj in the same ride height area2 tj's
3 yj's
2 xj's
