i was actually looking into the turbo swirl heads and i was looking into an up in compression by getting the smaller of the two chambers, i think the ones i was looking at were like 58 cc and the larger ones were 63, however the price of the flats are attractive. i also might break down and just grab a set of gt40 or gt40p heads off a 96-97 explorer if it comes down to it and have them reworked, id prefer the aftermarket because they manage better for the build im doing but at 5 times the cost of used gt40 heads i have to weigh my options. keep in mind that this engine may end up with a blower at some point so im trying to get good middle ground on a setup incase it goes that route so any help is appreciated.

and yeah its going to be run with MAF, basically the same harness setup that comes on a thunderbird with a 5.0L

Dont waste the money on the gt40 heads. Not much of a gain on a 5.8. For a couple more bucks you can get dart windsor Jr. heads. I had ran them once when my systemax aluminum head cracked. A lot better than a gt40, and the price is right.
If you shop around corral.net you can find some good used heads too. ARF's or something.

just looked them up, they appear to be 80 bucks more per head than the turbo swirl, should i just stick with aiming towards the aluminum heads? id like to stay on budget(which would be the gt40p heads) but i dont want to waste money, i also dont want to spend senseless money on iron heads when aluminum can potentially make more power, be lighter, and cost less

Which was 80$ more? The Windsor Jr?

I prefer aluminum because of weight, but for the price you can't beat the world heads. Which aluminum heads have you looked at?

Actually, I don't remember how the valve to piston clearance is on a 351, but if I remember its better than a 5.0. You can use the Windsor Sr. Heads too which are the same price, but have 2.02 intake valves and a bigger runner. From jegs they are about the same price as the aluminum turbo swirl.

SOOOOO, the car has been in the garage since before christmas, took all the trim and mouldings off from around the back glass as well as most of the rear half of the interior so i can cut out the old glass and swap in a clean one. the previous owner left me with shitty purple tint to peel off only to find i couldnt remove the excess left behind without destroying the defrost element. i was lucky enough to have a 93 bird roll in for scrap and was able to snag the glass out. this also allowed me to clean out the gutters beneath the trim.

while ive got the whole interior apart i peeled back the carpet inside the trunk to figure out where the ECS modules are for when i swap in the new Tokico shocks.

then, thanks to some recent progession, i removed the old cougar spoiler...

and after the old holes are filled and we line up and drill new holes we can paint the lid and mount this fresh piece of deliciousness
