one thing i should have mentioned but neglected to is: its being designed within the confines of a budget...aka i cant spend 5+ hours putting together some crazy sick design because it would just cost too much in time for RC

theres really nothing stopping me from going 'all out' and doing that i suppose except for budget on their half...so i guess thats a major factor in this

so thats the difference in a 70 dollar shirt design and a 500 dollar one..i dont wanna do work for free, so to speak

Ask Bruce how many people actually buy shirts, i know he is always trying to give them away, and if i had to bet the majority of the sold ones go the older crowd.

The thing people never think of(and im not saying you) is generations are changing, the 60 and 70s crowd is getting older and younger generations are getting into all this stuff, hence where all the "bros" and "Flat Billers" are coming from. Everyone has to adapt to change and not get stuck behind with the old times.

If all those shirts were designed differently with more of a DC, Quick Silver, Roxy, Ethnics design I would def buy them and I dont think that i fit into that "bro" crowd at all. I just like the design a lot better.

Are you picking up what im layin down? Im not bashing your design
why make a shirt, then, that alienates Bruce's main customer base. If older-generation "rednecks" are the main consumers of the shirts, it doesn't make much sense to abandon them in order to go after the non-guaranteed market of the "bro" crowd without really knowing how many of them would buy the product. You'd be giving up a pretty reliable market for what may be a passing fad in design taste.

I never said their was anything wrong with your opinion, just that you have to think of what makes the most economic sense sometimes in favor of the route that may or may not be a more culturally viable option

uh, that was the whole point of my post I never said OMG WILL YOU HAVE TO DO THIS!!!!!

In fact I said he should approach Bruce on the matter. Demographics are important in any marketing and neither you nor I know exactly what % is more popular at RC.

basically it comes down to this:

Someone should send RC 1 million dollars so that they can pay me in blank checks and i can have the design process completely at my infinite indefinite disposal

                  well...this thread is interesting.

i'm pretty sure bruce knows the audience his park attracts and will isn't designing for quiksilver or billabong....a lot of people bought last years RCrocs shirt and i think this one will sell just as well.

lol, then why post a poll for opinions? You give it and then you are wrong with your opinion. I never said Wills design sucked or anything, I just gave my opinion on the design and what I would buy.

you are right... this thread is interesting

Hey you guys should post a poll to see what people think. Then when they give a different opinion tell them they are wrong and we know what we want and this was all just trickery and lies.

I think the back is just too much. I'm more into the simple designs I guess

I like the overall design, just the rig positions on the back would follow the wording a bit better if they were flipped around. my .02

i feel as though the people disagreeing with you are doing so in the same way you are disagreeing with the shirt design initially simply counter opinions

i see both sides of the fence, on one hand i am designing on a short budget, which limits the amount of renderings/versions i can make, and how much i put into each. i could surely spend a bunch of time making a 'big market' style t shirt, but that would probably not be financially applicable for rausch. my skills arent sharp enough to make a truly stellar t-shirt in a couple hours normally, so that is a shortcoming here...t-shirt design i am not as strong with as i am web, film, or print otherwise

on the other hand, you have a 'dated' style versus a 'modern' style, which i agree with as well. if this t-shirt was for HMC and there was no budget simply because i dont pay myself obviously, it would certainly not look like this or go this direction, i'd go overboard and probably go the direction a few of you mentioned.

its about finding the balance between how much can be afforded to design it, and who will be buying it.

this all is also why the RCrocs DVD is 45 minutes long and not an hour 30 long. all relative, and its easy to overlook in the scheme of things

exactly what I was just about to say. If it were me I would put the RC logo that is on the front, onto the back of the shirt, than just put the website in a cool font or something up front. I have never been one for t-shirts with big pics like that. But, that is just my opinion.

As for what it is tho other than writing being backwards it is not bad. I like the picture choice for the top 3, but something about looking at the bottom of the truck is just blah. I think it would be cooler to see a pic from the top or front of the truck on its side or something. Right now it just kinda looks like a big black rectangle.

You seemed pretty confident that a majority of the product is sold to the older crowd, demographics would tell you that they should be your focus.
