4 springs that dont have much intensity to them attached via hooks/holes at the corners of the plates oughta do a body good

          seems overkill to me, no?

wouldnt 4 springs at 4 corners locate the plate fine enough? this isnt gonna see a lot of load, the cams only 5 pounds

Threaded rod. One plate has them welded to it, then between the two plates a coil spring, then a bolt to hold the two plates together.

The foam and the coil springs will keep the two plates separated while and force from the body will be absorbed in the upwards motion.

Yes, I agree with you, I was just expanding on what Phil had said. You probably don't need pins and springs.

                i dont follow totally..

im envisioning a piece of foam sandwiched between 2 plates by just 4 coil springs "tying" the 2 plates together, compressing this foam and using that as the sole barrier

So the bolt would just be there to keep the upper plate from flying off right?

why not use 2 pieces of box the came size. weld a tab in them and they get another piece of box that is somewhat snug on those 2. weld the big one partially onto the bottom put a shock absorber in there and slide the other one down on top of it. there it is sleeved and not going to fall over. While still allowing dampening

a shock absorber that can efficiently control and dampen somethin in the neighborhood of 5 pounds?

im not sure im confident an actual shock would remove vibes that im worried about either...itd take out jarring stuff...but tight vibrations can still be transmitted through the shock unless it was incredibly sensitive...no?

i illustrated my thoughts....direct side view, obviously 4 springs, 1 per corner on a rectangle plate
