  • What makes a "Real" rig?

    In my personal opinion of course;

    A real rig, is one that can safely take you, and others to a challenging wheeling locale hundreds of miles away (even more), survive, bring you home, and bring you to work on monday without missing a beat.

    A real rig, Has protection where needed, and running gear that will hold up to the tires in which it is running.

    A real rig, is one in which you can let a friend drive you home in, with safe and predictable handling characteristics.

    A real rig, Is one in which you can trust, you know it's high limitations, and you use that when on the trail.

    A real rig, Is entirely self sufficient. You have everything it will need on the trail and on the ride home.

    A real rig, doesn't travel behind a tow rig.

    A real rig, doesn't break on the trail, but that's ok because you can just roll it on the trailer and worry about it next week.

            my next cherokee will be almost 100% self-sufficient in a way.. my current one fits most of the 'real rig' requirements. i'd let my little sister drive it if she needed to.

            i'd like to build it strong enough that i dont need to carry spares like axleshafts. my ideal rig is a full on expedition ready cherokee, but stout enough to crawl, do 65 across the whoops, then do 75 the whole way home.

                It can be both, I prefer to not drive down to rausch in a tiny pickup cab with a 4.5' bed while try to carry all the supplies needed for the weekend. I do however enjoy a nice air conditioned, quiet worry free ride down.

                My rig could do it but I won't do it anymore. Therefore I vote still real

                            I enjoy driving my rig to and from, but it would be nice to be able to tow it if need be. My jeep doesnt really have the armor it needs and at this point I dont think I will have rock sliders because they are fucked up now but I would like to get bumpers. My next rig I really want to Armor up all the way and everyway I can. I will most likley swap my axles and suspension over and buy a welder and get to it. I really cant wait for my next rig even though I really like this jeep.
