Edit: That Trans Am's paint is fucking immaculate. Looks like one hell of a fun car to drive!
That gen VW's make great autox cars, since they weight nothing. I've never been much of a VW fan, but the older ones like that can def be cool when done right. And thanks on my car! The paint unfortunately was the one thing I didn't do myself, but it came out amazing. I couldn't thank the painter enough when he finished it!

....not many people are too big on this body style. With the money into it, I could have restored an older muscle car, but I had never really seen one like this body style built to this level before so I took it on as my project. It's got a lot of sentimental value to me too, which was part of the reason. I've had quite a bit of people that don't care for this body style tell me that they are now a believer in them. Mission accomplished!

I'll start...This is the love of my life. It's an 86 trans am and was my first car when I got my license. I've owned it for 10 years, and spent the last 4 of those years restoring and building it. Just got it back on the road this past summer and man does it feel good to drive it again. Couple specs on it are a turbocharged 5.3 LS swap and T56 tranny, dana 44 rear axle, vette brakes, and a full aftermarket suspension. Last time at the dyno, it put down 563 rwhp at 11 psi.

So lets see what else you guys are into!
love the car! can i steal the t56?

heres mine, its a 91 gta tran am

waiting till after college to start reworking everything i broke when i was 16.

350 edelbrock crate motor, hooker supercomps, custom piping to a flow master after that.

it has the original t5 and the synchos are Goooonnneee, but the burn outs were fun!

Nice, a fellow third genner!! Car looks clean compared to most, and I love the drag wheel setup you've got on it. As far as my T56, you can have it if you've got $2500 on ya . It's custom built with all the beefy internal upgrades along with the dodge viper input and output shafts.

Sounds like you've got some work into yours already though too. Ever been to a dyno or track with it yet??

And just for the hell of it, heres my brothers 91 bird since they are pretty rare!

Wow, whole faimly of ls swaps, no dyno or track runs for me, the car needs a bit of body work, and a new engine will go in some day, havnt decided what yet. Ill trade u the drag rims! Haha, im not a fan of them, i dont want a straight line car, im looking more into building a road car, i know a company remakes the original gta rims, but in any size you want, i really like the gold and green gta scheme Though somthing like this, but in maybe 18s?

This is what I got rid of to fund the Jeep.

A lowly 2003 GLI that became somewhat of a frankenstein, especially once I decided I wanted to autocross it. 3.2l/2.8l hybrid motor with a SRI, pieced together custom exhaust, cams, custom tune, and a fuel system that's half Toureg half random Edelbrock/Summit Racing parts. Suspension/steering is a complete Audi TT conversion up front, plus coilovers, huge swaybars, bushings, plus some weight reduction/redistribution and a bunch of custom body stuff. Plus a million other little things here and there, pretty much no bolt was unturned in that car.
The bodywork idea came about when I was much younger and just wanted something that stood out. Doesn't add anything to performance, but I'm glad I did it for the experience. It will help out down the road when I can apply those skills to restore something cool.

Did everything myself except the machine work on the head and the paint.
Never got a chance to dyno it unfortunately, but found out recently that a mkII coupe with an identical engine setup swapped in (but on standalone, which usually means losing the VVT which I still had) made 286whp on the dyno. So I should have been doing at least as well. Stock is a tad under 180whp.

When all was said and done it did really well in autocross, for having street tires. But I was kind of bored after doing basically the same thing car-wise for almost 7 years, so I sold it while it was still worth something to get the Jeep. I had my fun with it, but all in all I prefer American cars and *gasp* Subarus over the Euro stuff.

This was my 95 383 lt1 camaro, tremec t56, center force clutch, lunati cam, edelbrock intake manifold, trick flow heads, Holley throttle body, and a bunch of other things. Last dyno laid 502rwhp naturally aspirated. One scary car to drive.

This was my 98 m3 that actually beat swamp ass in auto cross, but he says it doesn't count cause it was a fun run.

Pete, that turbo jeep is bad ass!! What are you using for AFR and timing management?? I didn't think there was much out there for a jeep as far as that stuff goes.

CT67_72, nice looking foxes! Are those all different cars, or was it the same car changing multiple times, lol?

DizzDizz, those are some GREAT numbers out of an N/A LTx motor!! Things gotta be a rocket!

King ricer, love the race car lol. I'd love to turn a 3rd gen into a race car, but I need my own place first...

It was a rocket. Ran on cam2 and I daily drove it till I bought a civic. My dyno guy was a genius sent the computer out like 4 times to keep getting red lashed. It was tapped at that number though. I went through tires like nobody's business.
