If you're an English Major, teach English, teach other teachers how to teach English. Ever try Pedagogy? My mother is an English Teacher and she got her masters in English AFTER getting a degree in Public Relations and working the PR field, doing exactly what Nicole does now.

Yeah, it sucks that you may look at that piece of paper on your wall and go 'Fuck, that's useless', so you try something else.

a factory worker (production line) needs no more than a high school education to get that job. A job with decent pay and benefits.

Thats another reason that we need to bring manufacturing jobs back into America, because these are the jobs that uneducated people in urban settings usually held.

I mean look at all the empty factories in bridgeport and waterbury, thousands of jobs that at one point in time were perfectly capable of supporting someone with a family in an urban setting, all of which are no more.

They tore down the old Bridgeport Machine building. I almost cried when I saw that building gone and there was nothing but a hole in the ground surrounded by Brick. The end of an era...

Okay, completely unrelated to this thread entirely and I mean this question sincerely: What does one do with a degree, say a Masters in English, if they plan not to teach at all? What other jobs in your field were available (that aren't now) that caught your eye?

Masters = highschool or lower teacher

It truly is a shame. A company that stood for quality and integrity is simply no more. Such is the case with most all manufacturing companies now days. American manufacturing was the standard of the world, quality over cost. At some point all that changed as not only american consumers but world consumers settled for lower quality items just because they were cheaper. American companies just cannot match that kind of cost, because we believe in actually paying our employees honest wages and providing them with benefits.

We need to push nations like china and india to impliment workers unions to drive their cost of labor up closer to ours in order to bring manufacturing back to America. That along with higher taxes for american companies that manufacture elsewhere and sell their products here will, I believe help to create more American jobs. This is the reality we face.

Well those two things and a reform of federal and state unemployment benefit packages, will help to put people back to work.

That is my platform on job creation and the economy.
