      well

do you want your rig to be geared for every day use?

or would you rather make a couple more obstacles than you normally would whenever it is you wheel?

      how i look at it

gear first, bigger more practical expense

      worry about locking it later

        look at it this way
        tire 180x4 for 35s 720
        gears right around 400
        install 600 ish for both

        thats roughly 1700 for 35s

        33 would roughly be 680
        aussie 220
        spare shafts 50 bucks
        850 for 33s

If i do lock the front it wont be for a little while. and when i go to rausch I usually just go to have fun, not to to the biggest baddest obstacles my jeep can do. pretty much if i do 35s it will be set up like yours. 33s and it will be set up like phils. and you both can do most stuff at the park. but what im most concerned about is getting home at the end of the day and having a vehicle to drive.
and 35s on a 29 spline should be alright for now and 33s on these 3.55s is not a big deal

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

if it were me i would gear whether you decide 33s or 35s, especially considering what u said

                gears > front locker

you won't have to regear if we put a 5.0 in your jeep. chris has one sitting at his house

Before this post I wasn't sure where to vote on the poll. But once you said this I instantly felt like saying stick with 33's.

                          33's, geared, locked, done.

                            yes sir.
either way has its benefits. 35s and 4.56 will be a little better than 33s and 3.55s on the road. but how much of a difference will it be? thats the kicker. and that front locker will help a lot off road and i will be ok locking the D30 with 760 u joints. and 33s will be easier on the 29 spline.

so im feeling just run 33s now and run the axles and gears i have. by the time these tires are dead, I will have a different DD, will be out of college, have a legit job, and will be able to afford bigger axles. I dont wanna gear these axles (the 29 spline at least) and change them 6 months later. like RJ said, 33s will be much cheaper of an option now and will be just as good offroad. I think i can deal with a little higher gearing for now.

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.
