Ill try and explain this the best I can...
Passenger side has no issues, can freely and easily turn the selector by hand with no issues.
This weekend I was pulling a stuck car out of a ditch, I was on pavement spinning all 4 tires, very low speed , roads were icy.. Heard a loud pop come from the front axle. Ended up losing 4wd to my drivers side... But the axle shaft was still spinning and the ujoint was intact, so I figured it was something out of the hub. I wasnt able to turn the selector to neither free or lock, it was stuck between.
Took the hub apart today, it was full of dirt, cleaned everything up... Pretty sure the issue has something to do with the pressure springs, and the mechanism inside the hub that rides in the groves ( see pics ) ...
I pushed the clutch into the "locked" position, and moved the jeep around and indeed it does lock the hub. But now the clutch is kinda stuck in the hub, and its stuck on lock. How would I get it to pop back out, pull the hub?
Anyway, here are pics... I kinda am new to this whole hub deal so im learning so bear with me if im not making sense or calling things by the right name..
And.. if anyone has or knows where I can find an exploded view of a warn d44 hub let me know, I searched the google and couldnt find any.
In this pic you can sorta see where the piece that spins in not going down into the lower grove, it dug its way into the center of the grove, and its making it hard for me to put it in free..
Is the spring suppose to look this fucked up?
How to get the clutch out of the hub? Or just pull the whole hub out?
Look right?
