  • Axle questions.

Who is familar with axles like the Ballistic 9" spider 9"s and things of that nature?

Seems the ballistic 9" is cheap compared to other axle set ups

what are differences between them? etc

any other axles that would fall in this area could be brought up too.

Are you talkin just the housings? if so look at what the tubes are made out of is it DOM etc and the thickness of it, often that has to do alot with the pricing. also the alloy of the steel and the numbers they can make in production. obviously if they can make and sell more they can sell them cheaper and still make as much of a product if not more cuz they are still cheaper than the next guy. it also could be a new and unproven design and theyre cheap now to get some of them out there and once they sell a few to big name people and they like them they can hike up the price

    Is that good enough cody?

if you want cheaper custom housings that are smaller (more clearance) and have lots of options i would consider running toy diffs.

EDIT: i just saw the price of ballistic... $399 is the same price for toy rears. i thinks its just down to preference then

what is the advantage/disadvantage on housing size?

                like 3" OD x 1/4" Wall Vs. 3" OD x 3/8" Wall Vs. 3 - 1/2" OD x 1/4" Wall

Is weight the factor? strength obviously.

Dana, application is custom chassis to go FAST and take lots of abuse. like KOH/BITD/XRRA

i would prolly do sunray housings they have been building them the longest and the price is on par with other 9" housings.

as for what to fill it with.

if i had a 9" it NEEDS to be high pinion. and truhi9 is the only way to go, none of that currie bullshit.

It would have 60 outers (none of that 30 or 44 shit) preferably a ff rear with 35 spline alloy/chromos at each corner
