soo the end of my synthetic winch line looks like this... isn't there supposed to be a hook or something that you attach to the drum??? does anyone know how i can fix this? is there a place that can attach the right fitting to the end of this thing?

Check the drum for a bolt to attach the line to. Typically there is a crimped on end that bolts it to it to assist with the coiling of the line, but isnt rated. Some line manufacturers recommend a minimum of 8 wraps on the drum before winching. I would at least fix the end if you cant get an end crimped on to it. Take a piece or masking tape and wrap it tightly around the end (or within a short distance of the end. Cut in the middle of the tape with a good pair of scissors. Get a match out and burn the end of the rope and it wont fray and get shitty like that. Remove tape and you are good.Last edited by Wide-J; 07-17-2009, 04:21 PM.88 YJ...kinda. He wasn't the original owner. So i have no way of tapping into the lifetime warranty. then he disappeared, was out of contact. he said he has zero problems with this winch, which i find very hard to believe. I was hoping you were the first owner so i could find out what happened to this mess.
