looks like i made my first big fabrication screw up

When welding my lower control arm mounts on my 44, i measured the stock width on my d30, and compared that the the 44. The short side tube is too short so i figured the lowers CA's could angle outwards slightly and it would be fine (long story made short).

Well i just tried bolting up the axle, and the lowers mouted fine. But when i try to bolt up the uppers, they don't line up right. Like the lowers are too far apart, and they put the uppers at too far of an inward angle. Now i could probably try to bolt one side in at a time, but i'm not sure if that would put a lot of pressure on the bushings, and wear them out extremely fast, or cause way too much binding.

On the center cast section, on the short side tube there is about 3/4-1" that looks like you could technically cut off. I'm thinking i should have done that and moved both mounts in?

Now i'm looking at all this shit in the dark with poor lighting. I'll have to take a closer look tommorow morning.

Yea theres no way i could even get the uppers on the way it is now. I'm going to have to move the lowers in about 3/4" which fucking blows. It would be so much easier if they designed the truss so you didn't have to cut that center section piece off. I thought it was going to be fine when i welded it, the uppers are wider than stock, so i figured the lowers would have to be as well.

I can, but most likely i'm going to have to order new mounts because i welded on the outsides and insides of the mounts. There's a lot of weld holding them on so i'm going to have to do a shitload of grinding/butchering to them. Now i have the jeep sitting in the way in the driveway for a while now, and i wasted a bunch of time. I'm just the least patient person when it comes to shit like this.

So take your time removing them, and cut as close to the tube as possible so you dont butcher the mounts. Go easy and you should be able to just re tack them on there.

Always tac first man before burning them home.

I have made a few mistakes like that, don't get discouraged. And if you want experience, just talk to some older people and let them tell you about all about it....
