  • Aussie install

In the next month or so when the bank roll permits I am planning on doing an Aussie up front and more than likely the axel u joints too. Im curious if anyone that has done one or has knowledge about the process wanted to come by and assist. I don't have any kind of date or timeline yet, but I am in Milford with a heated garage and some kind of IPA on tap.

Currently in the keg is a knock off of doggy style IPA, when it's kicked I might go with the Sierra Nevada celebration not sure yet.

ah even easier. Im pretty sure the carrier can stay in with 3.55's. even when I pulled mine I think it took 45 minutes. i did it in the morning before work lol

Aussie's are easy as hell. Just make sure you have a good torque wrench, plastic/rubber/wood hammer of some sort, and red thread locker handy.

Nope, just have a decent punch, D30s usually have a roll pin holding the cross pin for the diff in place. Also have wheel bearing grease on hand, and a GOOD small flathead screw driver. Other then that just follow the directions, Ive done more then a few of these and they arent a prob and with stock gears the pin should slide right out from the carrier without pulling the ring gear. At the very most you may have to give the end of a tooth a tiny blip to let it slide out.

You should buy a feeler gauge and take a few measurements with that. They are like $3 from autozone. Pretty sure other than that, the 3 I listed earlier, and basic tools and such is all you need.

I've also heard you should buy a new pin, (roll or cross pin), and truth?

They say its supposed to use a hardened pin, but the oem d30 pin should already be hardened.
