  • Brake line ID. And also local source

Found one of my rear brake caliper lines rubbed through on a bolt to a pinhole.

I need to replace this by Wednesday of next week, sooner the better

I have the Teraflex rear disc conversion...the caliper lines look like below.

I find it hard to believe this is a special "Teraflex" part. What are these things out of, anyone know? I have heard conflicting reports that the tera kit uses Explorer parts. Lookin to source locally for speediness. Plus 70 bucks for 2 brakelines, brackets, bolts, and so on when I only have a pinhole in one of mine is kind of unreasonable. I dont know much about interchangeability for rear disk brake lines like I do fronts. Would ZJs work? Explorer 8.8? Similar?

hey will, teraflex use's 95-01 ford explorer 8.8 calipers/rotors/pads etc. so if you got a hose for one of them, i dont see why it shouldnt work. drive to parts store, bring tools to replace in parking lot so you can match it up

up to 40% off parts from advance auto parts, buy online and pick up at store for free-click here!

That looks like the hose I have from the frame down to the axle, which is RE. I have hard lines coming from the distribution block that go into these on each side...

I would bring your banjo bolt with you I've had to trill the banjo out before.
Speedway motors has kits too but I don't know how fast you will get them.

Interesting, I mailed teraflex right before I made this thread asking them what they thought I could use as a local source for a line

They got back to me and said "Try using a 87-91 Jeep YJ wrangler front hose."

                        Interesting.

XJ front hoses are shorter than YJ hoses
Why wouldn't Explorer rear hoses work?

Basically anything will work if it is the right flare banjo ID and length just find a nice part store.

                              good to know

i was curious why YJ front lines were suggested vs an obvious rear application
