  • Horn just went off randomly and wont stop....airbag light also goes on and off

Heard this might be a bad clock spring. Can anyone confirm this? Ive read that the horn stops working and the airbag light stays on. In my case, the horn wont stop honking and the airbag light goes on and off occasionally.

either bad clockspring or insulator for horn inside steering wheel is loose/worn through causing contact with other metal parts

have the same issue with the airbag light but it hasn't graduated to the horn yet. I've been told it could be in the steering wheel or seat belt sensor. my guess is the wheel.

Same thing happened in my Camaro. Unplugged the horn and sold it. Same thing is also happening in my truck I am planning on simply disconnecting the horn and installing 130db train horns. That is always an option but my guess is that you have a loose wire somewhere that is grounding itself and completing the circuit for the horn forward of the horn button. Just my 2 cents it sounds like your airbag light and horn are not 100% related.

Im going to say it is a loose wire that had ground itself. I thought it was the horn relay because I took that out last night and this morning the battery was drained so Im going to guess the horn wire is grounding somewhere.

Could be your airbag light issue...I just called the dealer and they ran the last 8 of my vin. At some point in it's existance it was fixed somewhere in the country. Any dealer can run it and see if yours was recalled or what recalls yours had.

I googled "1999 jeep cherokee recall" and that site came up.

            What year is yours?

              I have a 2000.

Well I searched for hours to find a problem and couldn't find anything so I bit the bullet and brought it to the dealer. She is still there as of today.

I am pretty sure 2000 has the same recall.

Cool. Hopefully that will be a free fix.

On the same day, my defroster stopped working (front and rear), my windshield seal broke and now leaks, and my check engine light came on. I was so pissed
