Here's some updates.
Front Drive Shaft
Start. Purchase a 98 TJ 4cyl/6cyl,auto front driveshaft. I knew it would be close to what I needed, too long if anything. It is easier to shorten a driveshaft than lengthen.
Dana 60 1310 Yoke from a Chevy D60. The TJ shaft uses 1310. I am doing a gear setup right now for a customer with a Chevy K30 with a 496ci big block, he sheared the teeth off of his front D60 ring gear and his 1310 driveahft lived through it fine.
Compress suspension to bumpstop on pinion side. This is how I measured my compressed length. I always subtract a little from the measured compressed length as a factor of safety.
I only needed to shorten about .75" A quick and dirty way to lose a short length was to just cut a little off of the splined end, so it can collapse a little farther. This TJ shaft has larger splines and a longer splined section than any other factory driveshaft I have seen, so I figured I could lose a little and be safe.
Clean up around the splines, assemble, paint, install, drive up walls

Took it out on the street today.... pretty fun, very easy to get sideways on the wet pavement (180hp chevy v6 = 3x the stock 60hp flathead 4cyl that came in those jeeps). I might try to adjust the AS so the rear drops a little more to get better traction on the road. Other than that it drives really nice and straight and handles well. I got up to about 40 I would say. Only thing that sucked is the lack of winshield in the rain.
I took some pics that I will put up tomorrow. Who wants to go wheeling?1950 Willys Trail Rig

"Interior"
Here's some add-ons I whipped for additional space in the small jeep, and also a spare tire carrier
Fire extinguisher for safety
Winch
I put the receptacle in the cab, so you don't have to climb out to hook it up
I wrapped the connections with this old rubber tire tube so I can run my bling aluminum cover without worrying about a short
Underbody protection
The skid plate goes from the oil pan sump to the output of the transfer case. It is all reinforced, the jeep can be lifted with it, without bending. I also put some plate under the sides where the cage mounts
Stoked!
