Your picture was poorly illustrated...
But in that case it seems better, but I feel its gonna be inconvenient no matter what, so go for aesthetics

i figured it would be obvious it exits under the headlight and turn signal if its attaching to the inside face of the bumper

i probably wouldnt have a cross bar regardless, if i can fit one on the firewall option, paired with the front bumper, i feel that would accomplish the goal without adding more tube in there

but i dig the less invasiveness to begin with of cage 2
i gotta take some time and look at how feasible it is
If you go with option 2, would you still have something that goes across the engine bay on flanges to connect the two 'arms' that go from the current cage to the bumper?

FWIW the bars would be mounted on 2 or 4 bolt flanges and are removableOriginally posted by Buffalo Phil View PostI like option 2 because it's less invasive on the engine bay and you don't have to work around 2 massive bars when doing any type of motor bay maintenance.

i like the idea of bars going down the inside of the fenders if possible. that way when you crawl and lean into a tree it will save the fender as well as strengthen the front end

i like option 1, any way to add a vertical bar down to the frame half way through? kinda hard to describe, and i dont feel like playing with paint right now
bar across the engine would be cool too

cage additions thoughts
for my final step of stiffening (after i straighten the front end unibody) i would like to complete the jeeps cage to the front
red bars are the existing a-pillar bars, transparent where they are behind the body/fender
yellow would be additional
cage 1:
typical engine cage, in jeepspeeds and similar. run a bar behind/in front of/through the firewall, NOT on top of the jeep visible (possible? havent looked at all closely, either way, a thought) and then forward across the bay, out of the front clip and into the bumper push bar. engine bars are mounted via bolt on flanges, to be removable.

cage 2: again, havent looked closely for clearance on this, just thoughts while i work. same bar off of the a-pillars to span the jeep, and then bars running down the inner fenders, mounting to the inside of the bumper face somewhere, flange mounted again.

cage 2 is less invasive and doesnt scream I HAVE A CAGE COMING OUT OF MY FRONT CLIP!!!
..id like to do it but need to assess the room for working it

Good call, I watched Dave shred a BigHorn sidewall on a dirt hill.
