The stock size is a 245/65/17. Noone with a decent tire makes them in that size for anything but typical all season street tires.

I am getting the General Grabber AT 2s in one of the following. 245/70/17 or 255/65/17. Most likely the 255/65/17 because it is a tiny bit wider and its a true 30" tire.

The 245/70/17 is a bit narrower then the stock size but a true 30" and i like the nice width of the stock tires so if they are available i will get the 255's. Both are $125 each.

If the stock size is 245/65/17 how do you figure that the 245/70/17 is a narrower tire?? the first number is the width in millimeters so 245 millimeters, the second is the percentage of the width for the height of the sidewall so it would be 65 or 70 percent of the 245 and obviously the last number is the rim size.. but they shouldn't be any narrower....

I was going based on the tire size specs listed for each size of tire on the website.

          (size)245/70R17 (load/speed index)110S (load range)SL (sidewall)OWL (Diam)30.5 (Wt in KG)17.5 (Wt in LBS)38.6 (maxpressure)44 (Section Width)9.8 (Approved rim width)6.5 - 8.0 (Tread Depth)16/32 (revs per mile)684

          (size)255/65R17 (load/Speed index)110S (load range)SL (side wall)OWL (Diam)30.1 (Wt in KG)18.2 (Wt in LBS)40.2 (max pressure)44 (section width)10.2 (Approved rim width)7.0 - 9.0 (Tread Depth)16/32 (revs per mile)693

          Stock tires.

the part i was questioning is you said the 245/70 was narrower than the stock 245/65... in what you just posted they are the same section width...

Bumping this cause I've been unable to log in for a long while on my phone for some reason, kept getting internal server error and no pc access. So far not much has changed. Made a custom CAI with some K&N parts, a 2008 Overland front end after a fender bender, new engine skid(steel not plastic, new mobil 1 diff fluid, and still saving for new tires. I have 1 but need 4 more I'm going with 265/65/17 Nitto Crosstek tires. Oh and I need a new E brake lever again cause the new one broke like the last one did. WTF I must bee using it too much! Lol. Oh and its got almost 111K miles on it now.

The Nitto Crosstek is supposed to be a cross of great wear and on road, good loocks good mild wheeing capability and wet traction. I think they are just what I need for the miles I drive on road, the country back roads and light trails I like to play on and will still look bad ass but have a 60k mile warranty. If not the nittos I'm going with Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors, 245/70/17. Still want AEV Pintler wheels one day too!

Have not really had $ to spare. I had to replace the ebrake cable as it broke again. Tires must come soon my current ones are beat. Also need to reroute exhaust behind rr tire so my son does not burn himself in the future getting in and out. I might have a quiet exhaust put in and do an exhaust cut out for on demand rumble/ quiet.

Btw we have a baby girl on the way due in august so another car seat is in order. Right now focusing one getting an apartment. Thank god we have the liberty now. Being a 4 cyl diesel its fantastic on fuel. But ive got some work to do on that to squeeze out even more mpgs!

Well its been a very long time since i knew what it felt lime to order Jeep parts online but i did!!

Just ordered Bilstein 5100 ride height adjustable struts, 5100 rear shocks and will be ordering a new set of zinc coated drilled/slotted front rotors and ceramic brake pads to replace my worn out front brakes.

Alos I was going to buy Nitto tires but at $235 for stock 245/65/17s and more for practically every other size that will fit i had to opt out on Nittos. I ended up getting a deal on ebay on 5 LT245/70/17 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor Pro Grades with 15/32nds (16/32nds new) as take offs from a truck. Paid $672 for all 5 shipped. Should wear like rocks being 10 ply, i wont mind a stiffer ride from the new tires and suspension. This thing floats all over the place now. Stock rear shocks and bilstein 4600 HD struts in front (leaking).

Should get all this installed before the end of the month and the. I need to replace a slowly leaking trans line and fan clutch. Btw whats the best way to stop the engine from rotating as i tighten/loosen the fan clutch w/o impact. I have a big breaker bar that i hope will help me loosen it.

Also ditching the custom exhaust for stock so Liam does not burn himself as he is almost old enough to climb in on his own now.

                    • Powerstop ceramic front brake pads showed up today as well as one of my 5 new GY Silent Armor tires. Other 4 are sitting in Shrewsbury mass due to snow and will hopefully be here monday. Once Bilstein finished building my 5100s they will ship to shockwarehouse.com and then be on their way to me. For the first time ill be wrenching in a garage of my own so i can change out the rear shocks, and take the front rotors to be cut and get my strut springs swapped out. Then an alignment.

Over the summer ill do the fan clutch, spark plugs, exhaust and tranny lines that are leaking and hopefully a CB antenna, mount and cable for the CB i installed in the dash cubby last year. I want to do a steel whip magnet mount antenna i think.

                      • Tires are in Chelmsford Mass, so close and yet so far. Im hoping they will be here tomorrow and ill get them mounted and balanced right away i hope. I mounted the 1 that already showed up on my spare wheel, though being a 10ply E tire i could not set the bead and air up with my bicycle pump like i did my snow tires. ( yes i said bicycle pump i have no access to an air compressor and ive mounted the tires on the wk now with the bike pump and 2 large duralast screwdrivers).

                            • Tires showed up today! Kinda pissed though one has a huge side wall gash. Seller said he would swap it out for one with no side wall gash before shipping. Waiting to hear back from the ebay seller to see if he will send me a new one. Going to mount and balance the other four tomorrow before the snow comes.
