      I was thinking about it, but I am still deciding what to do with the paint, if anything. I like the white/black combo... but I also like all black...

        Aussie for the 8.8 showed up... this thing is BEEFY. Ordering another for the front on friday, and putting them in in a couple weeks. Expect to see a mabell wheeling run thread

          FYI - I'm told that with the removal of a few screws that chrome grill will come right out - Its just an insert.

                  Got the aussie for the d30... when I picked it up I damn near threw it, expecting it to be as beefy as the one for the 8.8. Its like half the size. Putting them in next friday in my buddies garage.

                    Got the aussies in. The 8.8 was easy, though a bit tricky figuring out a good way to get the c-clip in. Once we had everything together my buddy relaized he forgot the thrust washer for the passenger side... which I asked several times if he remembered. So we got to do that job twice. The front was a bitch in 2 spots; I forgot the yj's have 3 axle shafts and remember about a half hour into trying to get the front carrier out. Pulled the middle shaft and it came right out. But then the little pin that holds the center pin in place was a bitch and a half to get out. I was using an allen key to hammer it out, but it wouldnt budge. We went to autozone and got some punches. The only one that fit broke in about 3 hits with a hammer. But, for kicks I tried the allen key again, and luckily it finally started moving. Wrestling the 3 bolts holding the axle on was quite the bitch as well. But its all done now, fully locked;

                    my buddy mike, still smiling as its the first time we took apart the 8.8

                    8.8 built

                    d30 opened up

                    building the aussie in front

                    done, and WOW what a difference. This rock is nothing all the impressive but it was around the corner and enough to test with;

                    Took it to mabell the next day and officially ate the jeepeater. With these things its like wheeling with god mode enabled. Crawled up just about everything, and a few spots required a tiny bit of throttle.

                    The chick driving up a pretty decent rock face;

                    So, now that thats done... my tcase is shot. It was popping quite a bit wheeling and rattling the whole ride home. So I guess a new drive line is up next.

                        Yeah its an amazing difference. Wheeling with open diffs got to be really frustrating, I had to just take the plunge.

                          when you take the carrier out with the ring gear on it, can you just bolt the carrier back in or do you have to check the measurments and stuff. like spacing?

                            You're supposed to check the measurements for backlash and whatever, but I could give a shit about that stuff since this is no DD, so I just slapped it all back in and bolted it up.

                                theoretically, but I may still be off from stock as I have no clue how old my shims are.
