      • New metal is welded in and the bottom is undercoated. Also, the new pieces for the passenger side are cut out. Tomorrow they should be welded in, undercoated, and hopefully the whole thing will be prepped for bed liner

        SO MANY SPOT WELDS

          • You should really put a spot weld or two on that metal to hold it in. Just a suggestion

            • I'm curious to know what you used for metal as well as how much you picked it up for. I need to do this soon and I'm debating on whether to buy sheet metal or just buy pans from rock auto. Thanks.

I got two lengths of 2' x 4' 20gage steel from Logan Steel in Meridan. The total was $15 ($1 per pound; 15pounds of steel). The stock Jeep pans measured out to be around 20gage. If you want the exact micrometer reading let me know and I'll get it for you.

If you want to go with the rock auto pans that would work but I didn't have the time to order them. Also, if you want the template for the drivers side, I can either give you the measurements or you can stop by and make a copy of it. All in all, I don't know what rock auto charges but I made my pans for $15 and I don't think that will even cover their shipping to hell with the steel

Christ that's less than half the price of one pan from rock auto. Awesome, are you in the cape or CT? Capes not a bad drive for me, I might have to even take a trip to Logan steel. I need to get some steel for the cargo area too, as alot of that is missing lol. Edit: Logan steel is a 2 hour drive so more than likely shop around here for the sheets but ill have to get the measurements from you at some point. Thanks.

                    • So the passenger side is all done and the drivers seat bracket was rebuilt and welded down. Tomorrow the whole inside should be bed lined. If anyone decides to do this don't do it in December..

january for me, i'll feel your pain. I also meant to ask you, the stuff you had cut out in the other pics, was that all you cut out before you installed your metal or did you almost completely cut the pans out?

                          • So the herculiner is down and two space heaters are in the Jeep to keep it warm and help it cure. Hopefully it will be dry tomorrow so I can wake up early (fat chance) and install my interior

Yeah, I mixed up the can in the basement of the house and my family is less then pleased to say the least about it. I had a respirator on so I didn't notice it until I took it off. Its been 4 hours and its still tacky. That normal?
