        got some work done today

shes got some droop! this was without steering so I thoughtI would lose some. once I got everything on it drops just as much. cant wait to really flex it out.

I ran out of room when my back tire hit the wall. I was still going up. front spring is about 4-5" out of the pocket.

Jeep looks good man. any plans on a beefier rear? or are you gonna stick with the 29 spline for now

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

gonna stick with the 29 spline for now. supposed to be pretty good. I always have something floating around in my head. Dont really want full widths so I have been thinking of going 44 front and 9" rear. then I can just spool both. maybe next time Im ready for tires. good excuse to go 37" lol.
I finally got the locker out today by the way. some of you may remember that I was sent an aussie with a side gear that was not clearanced for a c-clip. I cut the notch my self and left it pretty tight. Im gonna clean it up in a couple critical areas lol. it would have been real easy if I ground one corner just a little more.
so hopefully wednesday the rear will be done and Ill get some real pics of it in action.
                Dan.

I didnt take any pics today as I was trying to get done before work. I started with a bare 8.25 housing at around 10:00 and was driving down the road with nice fresh 4.88's around 11:30.
Some of you may remember my aussie fiasco, so after a little more modifying I had the locker back in and ready in about 15 minutes. sure beat 2 days the first time.
came out pretty good. diddnt go too far. I pulled the tie rod ends and drag link to not disturb the steering while swapping out the front but something is different because the alignment is WAY out of whack.
so tomorrow morning will be doing a driveway alignment and a little driving to break in the gears. so far only very minimal noise while accelerating around 30 then it goes away and is nice and quiet. hopefully they will break in and be quiet all the time.

Have the rustys 6.5"? I can by tell your rear flex... I had it too

I suggest taking out some leaves/getting new ones and.getting a new shackle or say bubye to your bushings soon.

I took out two leaves and added a 1" lift shackle, I sit a little.lower in the rear (like level now) and the rear flex is 150% better

Im glad you said that. I have been thinking about taking out a leaf. the shackle is way too short. bushings are SHOT. I had asked on another forum about removing a leaf and no one could give me info. which leaves did you pull?
The rear is a little low anyway, so a shackle will be fine.

If you get a few bucks I would trash the leafs and replace them with a better set. The bushings are shit (mine went after 2 months) and you have to get bushings from Rutys I believe. (someone can correct me if i'm wrong)

most likely wont have cash for that so I may mess around and take a leaf out and see what happens. Ill keep my eyes out for a good used set also

I took out the smallest two, besides being very squishy I don't have terrible axle wrap nor do my leaves invert.

As for bushings rustys will tell you there bushings are the only ones that fit, but I took my leafs down to Perrault spring co. in waterbury, cost me 45$ or so for then to make the bushings for me, anthey even pressed my old bushings out and new ones in, only difference is I have to run some washers at the front hanger, also they have center pins there too

I highly suggest this, I too didn't wanna spend $$$ for new leaves, and my ride quality got wayyyyy better on the rear just cuz the shackle actually had room to.movemove
