My parents had a 93 discovery, fuel pump started going at ~90Kmi and it needed new pads and rotors. All in all it ended up costing over 1,500 dollars for that to all be replaced (and that was mostly parts) so they sold it right after. And with parts that expensive I think they are off land rovers for life.
I think the rover is out of the running. Too bad, though. They're nice luxury trucks.
Ive heard nothing but bad things about the wj as far as reliability is concerned. And since I am spending under 2 grand on this thing, I dont want to risk it.
99.9999% of land rovers have sever reliability issues and sadly the one making up the 0.0001% of reliable land rovers is in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F52KCk3atYY

i had a 3.0 v6 in my yota pickup. it was lifted, wheeled and drove back and forth from Boston every weekend. It had 165,000 miles on it when i sold it, 0 issues even after the next 2 owners (my friends) and it was a damn good truck. i liked the motor
