Its 25 years to skip emissions, i know because last year my dad was hoping he wouldnt have to do it on his sammy, btu he was like one year short lol.

that being said when i registered my jeep they told me i had to get emissions done, but seeing as i was trasferring plates they let me reg........... needless to say i never went and have not recieved anything in the mail concerning emissions

I have this same problem again... my registration expired late february 2010. First... they won't even do the test until you get a temporary registration from DMV. Then... you need to pass. Autism zone sells some emissions passing shiat that you put in your gas tank... worked last time for me 2 years ago.

Armand, can you confirm this for me/us?

The new rule..which was put through recently, is that if it fails you can renew your registration and it will be good for 60 days..after that if you get pulled over and your emissions isnt passed you WILL get a ticket..This is only if you went to test it to get ur reg renewed and it failed when it was fine before...If it failed previously and you renewed it and that was that..well then you prob are gonna need it to pass...

Theres really no way to "fool" the system (sometimes people get lucky)..The system is set up to know when certain paramaters are off and the bay is watched by cameras..Unless another similiar looking cherokee went through with the "same" VIN..which is what I may be doing for my GF's jeep..Running mine through in place of hers..But i deff cant garranty I could do that for anyone..Let alone myself...A guy from the DMV randomly Checks in once a week or so and observes a few tests...And a shop can lose their license if caught trying to fool the system.

As far as the 700 Dollar pass thing..If thats true its totally possible..ANY licensed shop can fill out the form..Because any licensed shop is allowed to complete emissions repairs. You will have to let your vehicle fail and you get the form with your fail slip.

If you have a CEL on an OBDII vehicle and up you fail. Period. There is no way around it. You can reset the ECU before you go and drive it 100 miles or so. If the O2's are shorted they may just be lazy and the light may not come right back on. Then you can try. I have a hook up but it wont work for OBDII with a CEL.
