Those 5-10 minutes you spend planning your route with your atlas, I'll be on my merry fucking way. Hell, I might even stop for Wendys.

I use a Garmin 260W. It can be set as a "Truck" so it avoids parkways. Had it for about 14 months and it works great.
        I need the 4.0L!!!!!!!!!!!

I like my TomTom One, However I like my parent's Garmin Nuvi alot better. However it's all a matter of personal opinion.

An atlas is good to have, it's also good to use an atlas to plan out a route ahead of time. However a GPS is something good to have if you are making a pit stop, or looking for the closest Hampton Inn, or if you want Burger King over McDonalds. My GPS will find the nearest place of m choice give me their phone number, and directions there. So if I wanted a decent meal I could call ahead and make reservations, and on my way without having to dig out a phone book to find locations of stores, restaurants, hotels, etc. And not having to figure out where they may be on my atlas.

I do have an atlas but while floating down the highway i do not feel like pulling the fuck over to see what i have to do next. Also atlas"s get broken easily and being dyslexic like i am i often read shit on them wrong unless i really take my time reading it. So take the sand out of your mangina stop being a douche canoe.

You are ignorant to the highest degree.

I own a garmin nuvi 200 which I payed 80 bucks for two years ago and recommend it highly.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 500 that I love. Has tons of great features including topo maps on it. I usually use it in conjunction with an atlas just because reading a map is a good skill to have(youd be surprised at people who cant)

sense we are blown off topic slightly here, i have a personal thing with gps's and have been holding out on getting one. i dont know why, but i do.

i like looking at maps and figuring out where i need to go and getting to know the area. If i go somewhere once, im usually good from then on. with that said, i do see the benefit of a GPS and maybe one day i'll break down and buy one

i was like this for a little while too...once i know my way to a place i don't forget it...and i wasn't really driving to new and unknown places on my own so i didn't feel like i needed one. but one weekend will and i were out driving around and ended up in the middle of a road block/construction madness, and they had no detour...i realized then that if we didn't have will's GPS we would have gotten lost...i'm sure eventually we would have found our way, but it was just so much easier with the GPS

I really NEEDED one when I had deathwobble and couldn't take the highway from the tap n zee home. It must have taken me 5 hrs... don't remember exactly, but w/ a GPS I probably would have been home in 2 hrs tops. There was a couple of times where I literally went in a fuking circle for over 20 minutes. Never been so lost/annoyed in my life. Still do not own a GPS...
