I will be in desperate need of a new gps soon. I will need it really badly for the summer. What do you guys have/ recommend? Would be cool if it had the option to avoid parkways and such since i will be pulling a trailer. One that is easily updated. I got it on my phone which is nice since it tells me about traffic and if i want to reroute but that gets annoying when i got to make calls and the screen is a little too small. Oh also one that is loud tsl's are not quiet

Got my father a Tomtom One XL S a couple years ago, and It's worked flawlessly since. I've used a couple Garmins before, and I like the Tomtom better. It gives you an option to avoid freeways, but it doesn't tell you the traffic situation.

I finally broke down and bought one last week. Got a Garmin Nuvi 1300t. 4.3" display, touch screen, and traffic navigation. I've used it twice so far to find a couple things. The maps are good. When you get into a more urban setting, say you get off an exit ramp that leads into a downtown portion of a city, the map zooms in and gives you each street name which is nice.

I'm not sure if you can specifically avoid parkways but I'm sure you can set it to only use major highways and such.

get a fucking map. really?? are we that big of pussies we can't read a map. i navigated backroads up and down the east coast, from ohio down through KY, TN, down into alabama and up through the carolinas with nothing but a good set of maps. no offense, but really?? did people travel anywhere without mapquest or GPS's???
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

no retard there. i'm just saying $20 atlas> than $250 gps.

just sometimes all this crap pisses me off, its making our society slowly stupider.

Yes, America will crumble under overwhelming stupidity because everyone uses a GPS.

I get what your main point is, but honestly is it really that big of a deal? Do you think any one of us (sis members, "jeepers" on a larger scale) are going to be the type of people who would follow a GPS if it told them to drive off a dock? The technology is here, its cheap. Might as well use it.

                              This time 100million,

Just because some people use a GPS, doesn't instantly mean we forgot how to use a fucking map.
