In the end, we will donates millions and millions of dollars, so that it will feed and house a few people for a temporary amount of time, haiti will go back to being haiti, and they will CONTINUE TO LIVE ON A KNOWN FAULT LINE, and this will happen again, wash rise repeat, if america isnt the super power next door by that time, who knows how well they will fare.

the quake isnt the fault of anyone in haiti, but at some point people will need to see you cant just fix stuff like that by throwing cash at them.

hence why with alot of the charity stuff i do isnt money. its supply donations or actual work.

That and the donation scammers who are saying theyre donating but just pocketing the money, thats the #1 reason I don't donate, that and the fact that I'm in college and need all the money I can get..... but I still don't beg for donations...

this reminds me of a girl i knew from HS...she got caught for illegally downloading music when it was first like a HUGE crime 'no-no' kinda thing...she had to go to court and got fined an INSANE amount of money. instead of getting a job and making money to pay for it, she made a website, explaining the story, and was asking for donations....that i don't have sympathy for...

That and they can get away with it so easily because people will be like "Oh im helping Haiti" and not think anything of it and probably never think, "I wonder if my 5 dollars ever made it to Haiti"

Bringing up another point into donating in general. i kinda think that its sad that something tragic needs to happen in order for people to act like they care. theres tons of things that need help all the time and its not always money. some organizations need just awareness. or volunteers etc. i mean i could totally go on about some of the organizations i am involved with that are wonderful organizations and get no recognition just because they havent had a major tragedy.

its something you could debate forever on sooo many aspects.

haha i agree also, like i said i do supply donations to animal shelters and the MMSC. and they appreciate it just as much. the only money stuff i usually donate is gift cards that they request like staples and stuff.

Where the hell is the should we be helping Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan/Yeman/Columbia etc etc threads? Everyone has an opinion when its a huge public thing, if it was such a hot topic though, do some research and realize all the other crap we are doing ALL OVER THE WORLD. I'd rather donate money to something like childrens cancer research, which helps out 6.8 billion people instead of 10 million people. Makes no sense donating money to Haiti in my opinion.

There's a difference between saying he deserves it and not donating, just because you don't donate to the cause doesn't mean that you think they deserved to be hit by 2 pretty big earthquakes within a week of eachother, I look at it this way... if there was an earthquake here which countries would help us out? Sure as hell not Haiti, they wouldn't even offer, so why should I bother helping them,
