Seriously, take it to court and fight it, tell the judge you used the money to fix the problems with your jeep and it will most likely get thrown out, i got a speeding ticket for over 300 bucks, when all was said and done in court i had to make a 25 dollar cheritable donation. chances are the cop won't show up, people say that they get overtime pay for it which im sure they do, but in most cases its not worth it to them

At 2:30 in the morning the cops are looking for any reason to pull someone over so they can see if you are DUI - PLAIN AND SIMPLE - That's what they are looking for at that time of the night. Since you work until late it would be in your best interest to make sure your vehicle is legal - license plate installed and ALL lights working.

I was pulled over several times coming home late from GF's house - once for a license plate light being out - cop just about climbed through the window because he couldn't believe that I hadn't been drinking (it was 3AM). Another time I crossed the yellow line on a two lane back road because I was eating a cheeseburger (midnight) and even though the cop couldn't smell alcohol he still made me blow the tube (0.0% thank you very much). And there were other times as well - basically I stay off the roads after 11-12PM. I'm either home by then or I'm spending the night elsewhere.

My advice - pay the fine, forget about it, and make sure the vehicle is legal so there's no reason to be pulled over.

I'm pretty sure a plate on the windshield doesn't count. And x2 on what dogman said. They pull over a dented lifted jeep at 2:30 in the morning, chances are a younger person is driving. He was bankin on a DUI. That's how they got my friend.

This is true. However, he coulda been a huge dick and gave you a ticket for the other stuff too. I feel like you getting out of it with only a 93 dollar ticket is pretty lucky. He had a reason to pull you over (the third brake light out) so I dont think fighting it would really do anything if thats what he gave you the ticket for. You cant really go up there and be like he was a dick I dont wanna pay this. It sucks but thats the way it goes.

I got a $75 ticket a few months ago.. in front of my house, for my air freshener. Thats what started the harassment from the popos. Showed up at my house 3 days later at 11:30 at night to tell me they have had 4 complaints about me speeding up and down my street which i do NOT do. I explained to them that my car is loud but it doesn't matter they creep by my house every day looking for me and they sit at the end of my street all the time. Point of the story was i fought the ticket lol. Haven't gone to court yet.

I lost my front plate wheeling and I have no idea where it is :/

I've been pulled over a few times. I was 17 and it was exactly 12, and a cop watched me park at a local park to go smoke a cigar. Before I even got out of the car he was on my ass, lights flashing in a residential neighborhood for a solid hour. It was november, and he made me get out of the car and sit on the bumper, and he questioned me for half hour and we spend another half our waiting for his K-9 because he didn't believe me that I didn't have weed in the car. I knew my rights and I didn't want him going though my shit, so I denied him from looking in my car, so I had to sit in a t-shirt and shorts, cold as ballls, waiting for his dog, who never showed. I got to leave with a 50 dollar ticket for underage possession of tobacco. I got the ticket November 1, 2008. The under 18 tobacco possession law went into effect October 1, 2008.

Usually when I get pulled over the cop is just doing his job. I never give the guy a hard time, but I don't let my rights become violated. So I exercise them politely and it usually ends up with a ticket anyway. I've only once been pulled over and not given a ticket. A cop ran my plate and it came up wrong because the vehicle had its reg transfered a day previous.

I'd fight it and try to get it knocked down a bit. I got a ticket a few years ago for going through a red light and the court pretty much said pay 1/3 of what the ticket would be to a charity and that was it. Took maybe an hour to straighten out on my way to work...

I'd also be willing to bet that cops are less likely to let you off after stopping you. The state doesn't exactly have tons of money these days...

My tires stick out quite a bit too... so I try to keep the little things on my jeep as legal as possible. Haven't been pulled over for a while meow....

This. I got pulled over in my friends car one night. We all packed in to go get food at about 1 in the morning. The cop had followed us for a good 5 miles before pulling us over. He said because my buddy ashed his cig out the window and it is littering. He saw it was a car full of kids at 1am and was banking on a DUI. I had not been drinking, but we all got pulled out of the car and tested and stuff. Good thing I knew the cop from the FD and the other cop he called in played baseball where I go to college. So, I got no tickets cuz I wasnt doing anything wrong. Consider yourself lucky that the fine is only 93 bucks. Just pay it, fix your jeep, and be on your way. He is not going to have a vendetta out for you, he was just doing his job.

First of all there is no such thing as the cop showing up to court in the first place, Its traffic court. If you have a clean record all you have to do is go to court, the prosecutor reviews the case and will just tell you to pay a random amount, much lower then the ticket price. They may say you can make a charitable donation instead and if they dont just ask them if you can and more than likely they will be fine with that.

If you absolutely refuse to pay any amount, and claim the ticket is outright bullshit it goes to court.

But what it comes down to is a couple hours of your day, and possibly missing a day of work (or more) really worth fighting some stupid ass ticket, which is a measly 93 dollars to begin with?

You're driving at 2:30 in the morning, what do you expect? Cops pull people over for random reasons late at night all the time, mostly checking for DUI's.
