Im pretty sure Three Rivers still offers a welding class but their every other semester and idk how far you wanna travel

haa... not really... they could never get enough participation to open the class as far as i remeber...

but check your local community college, or technical school to see what they offer, maybe a class next semester or something

yup, tried last year, didnt offer it. there was one in Manchester though

I've been thinking of doing it too, but I really don't do it often enough or have the money really.

I've tossed around the idea of getting a welder before and a few books on the subject or having someone else teach me.

I learned stick welding in gunsmith school and that was a fucking pain in the ass to do.

Buy some books on welding, browse Miller welders website, they have a technical section with advice and how to's. In college I did a little stick welding and oxy welding, I taught myself how to mig from watching others and from reading a welding book. I still refer to Millers site from time to time.
