Found a 97' TJ for 4495$ with 119,446 miles. 4 cyl, 5spd transmission. Looks like its in good condition at a dealership.
Second find was a 98' wrangler sport, 5spd, 2" lift 31's, for 5000$ with recent o2 sensors and cat replaced as well as the radiator."Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but rising up everytime we fail."

They aren't that bad, but if you have the choice, buy a 6cyl.Shane "The Bag" Carlson

i've had both a 4cyl and a 6cyl yj. both lifted about the same on stock gearing. honestly i notice a difference but the 4 banger was fine. i drove all the way to south florida in it and made it in 18 hours. no prob cruisin at 80 on 33's. the 6 is nice tho. i like yj's. been dd'n one pretty much for the past 4 years and i love them. so simple, so fun. my mom had a tj and it was nice but not that much nicer than a yj2 tj's
3 yj's
2 xj's

TJ>XJ (they have a frame....sshhhhh.)
My XJ has 133k on it and its whooped. The 15 lbs. of boost didn't help. Pete's YJ has 185k on it and its in much better shape than my motor. Point is, no matter how many mile they have, if they weren't taken care of or beat to shit then it doesn't matter.
Listen to them, check the oil, check the oil pressure, check for rear main leaks.(they all do a little but check)
Rear main leaks can be evidence that there is a bit of bearing wear and the crank is walking a bit.
No matter what you buy make sure you have enough money set a side to do a few maintenance things like tune up, hoses, and some unexpected shit.
If you do buy a YJ/TJ check the frames well, shock mounts on the top, and bottom of the frame bends for rot.
