i remember a while back when digital cameras were new.

people were saying compared to a slr the 2 megapixel cams were shit in the pic quality department.

if either camera breaks, (in which id say the kodak is twice as prone) youre out of a camera regardless, one likely permanently. the canon just gets fixed for nada

If the camera I was using costed 78 doll hairs, I'd go fucking buy another one when mine broke 10 days into my trip. no biggie. trying to come up with $400 or trying to pull a swap and scam with the canon is not fun. 2 weeks they told me.. and I haven't even shipped it out for repair yet.. which mind you, I am going to have to pay for shipping? not sure yet, I haven't read the email they sent with instructions on how to get this thing fixed.

sitting next to me, i'm going to try to find a repair shop... unlikely.. so i should be sending it out today or tomorrow and having them ship it to friends in montana where we can pick it up on the way back. Hopefully there will be some good scenery on the way back and or I can get wheeling pics with it in Badlands (NEW P.A.P.) in INdiana

yeah it beeps and the lens motor isn't moving the lense, there's no motor noise or anything.. I was actually zooming in then out and it stopped working and shut off.. then i would keep getting that error message when trying to restart it.

I wanted to smash it real bad with something heavy.

mine did that when i got sand in it ages ago...canon replaced the entire optics assembly on it and it was giggity good....sucks though

not all of us are aspiring Steven Speilbergs like you an will but want to take nice HD video on wheeling runs. I dont need or want some stupid expensive video camera, when all im doing is taking pictures , and very short video clips of a muddy jeep. I honestly dont give a flying fuck if the camera is sub 100 dollars . That actually makes it better. Why take a nice 380 dollar Canon SX10 ( which I own btw ) on a wheeling run or somewhere it could get fucked up easily when you could have a decent PaS that takes good looking pictures and nice looking video, and you know what, if you drop it in a puddle or smash it off a rock, fuck it, it was 78 bucks and not 380. Sure, a canon might be nice and fancy and take better pictures, but this is my point. Doug wants it for wheeling and shit and taking pictures here and there. He isnt a professional photographer. He isnt going to be photoshopping pictures. He isnt gonna be hanging these things off the wall. Hes taking quick pictures. Nothing more . Nothing less. Cheap point and shoots for the win

Regardless if I want to become a Spielberg (Actually offense has been taken, I'd much rather be a Soderbergh or JJ Abrams)
I won't make anymore of an arguement about shooting video besides: Shoot for what the sensor is capable of, HD video on a sub100 camera, will not look as good as 640x480 on the $300 Canon, because the video is built for its res on the canon, they just slap on the HD on the kodak for crap kicks...
