Just read an article from road and track. And yes the gt500 beat the zl1 in a drag race that's where it all ended. The zl1 rapped it on the road course, the skid pad and the braking competition. The zl1 also comes with every performance option GM offers. As it costs an extra 10 grand to get the rest of a gt500. Also the shifting of the zl1 is far more superb with its no lift feature. Even though they both have the tremendous t6060. Also the tires on the gt500 are any off the shelf Goodyear eagle f1 the zl1 has vehicle specific Goodyear eagle f1-2. Also are wider by alot.
Just some facts to blow your mind.Dizz dizz go sleep sleep

Every test was retardedly close, as well as the final. And the GT500 won in many more categories than you said, not that anyone should truly care what 1 person at road and track thinks anyway.
In fact the GT500 won in the final category count until it came to price.
The best part of all of this is:
This thread isnt "Road and Track GT500 vs ZL1"
it is "If your brand loyalty blinds you to the awesome of this, chances are your mother should have aborted you."
If we are going by Road and Track, the GT500 and ZL1 are so insanely close, that based on this being your basis, you should love both equally.
Looks like you are late for your abortion- Will

The ZL1's day began badly. With a display of overwhelming force, the GT500 humiliated the Camaro in a drag race. Both cars get off the line in a hurry and all appears fair until the time comes for the ZL1 to shift gears. Even with its time-saving no-lift shift feature, the ZL1 can't keep up.- Will

The mustang has 80 more skypower, that's a significant difference. And your argument about zl1 spec eagle f1-2 tires is retarded. It means you get to spend twice as much for new ones after you kill them trying a burnout and crash into a light pole behind work.
However, I love both cars. I love Chevy v8's. I love both of their styling. Why can't we just agree they are both badass and none of us will own one in the near future until dizzy hits the lottery.P8R

At my work, One guy has a '13 GT500, and another has a '12 ZL1 and a '12 ZR1. Ive spent a considerable amount of time around these cars. Ive beaten the crap out of the GT500 when it had 300 miles on it. In my opinion, and its just my opinion, the ford wins....fit and finish is cleaner. Yup, I said it. Just my opinion, and I am biased, but C'mon, it just looks better too! All joking aside though, nobody can go wrong with either car.-1988 Comanche 31's, rot box
