I didnt say anything about him bein wrong...of course his post is right...its as business 101 as it gets..which is what im saying. Do i openly acknowledge jeep is a biz to make money first? Of course i do. That doesnt make this car any less of a joke and shallow piece of marketing. The way they push it is an insult to anyones intelligence that knows better.

But, if you look at what the xj was intended to be, a station wagon that could be used in the snow, it's really not too far for a modern interpretation of that.

Jeep is a company, like any company, they need to make money. And as much as that depresses people that love cherokee's (honestly, i don't get it. I liked mine, it's a good vehicle, but my life isn't ruined because Jeep made a modern and auspiciously horrible version of something once great) the market for a crossover is much larger than the people that buy up used xj's and mod them.

I don't have a problem with what Jeep did. They need to compete in the modern automotive market, (you know vs. hybrid crossovers and kia souls) so we can still have vehicles like the JK.

No company can make money marketing their vehicles to people that don't even buy them new. Being someone that is around and has worked on the newer JK's, they are incredible for what they are. Extremely capable, extremely moddable, everything that we love about Jeep brand.

I said this a while ago and i'll say it again, if i ever decide to wheel/build a full bodied Jeep again, it will be a 4dr JK rubicon.

That being said, i think the car sucks, i think it's a disgrace to the nameplate. But i can't be mad at them over it, i have more important things to worry about.
