The floor is yours to show me where I was asking in here why Jeep was doing this. The whole origin of my distaste is I know exactly why Jeep is doing it. We seem to agree the car is absolutely abysmal, so what is the problem?

Besides, if we are going to get into some business discussion, theres some (a lot of) truth in the thought that brands maintain an identity through design and purpose. A brand like Jeep isnt like Toyota or Ford, it was always an iconic specialty brand. No one would care if a Ford or Toyota released a car like this, because thats just what they do and the niche they fill.

If someone is surprised at the fact that people who follow the Jeep brand are upset by a car like this, then I dont know what to say. I am sure Jeep saw this coming from a mile away. Stuff like this isnt a case closed money maker, plenty of other companies have tried this same move and failed in a huge way.

Your logic is also flawed in forward thinking. Jeep doesnt sell new vehicles to a lot of people on this forum, sure, but I bought my XJ when I was much younger, now I am at the point in my life where I CAN buy a new Jeep, and I will choose not to as everything we knew with Jeep is slowly degrading into a mush of generic garbage. There is an entire future crop of customers that have been turned off to the brand they grew up with. (potentially)

People buy a brand like Jeep because it is Jeep, not because they make the next crappy cookie cutter FWD based car. Will that change? probably, but I am perfectly justified in voicing distaste, you may not care, but I do.

I didnt say anything about him bein wrong...of course his post is right...its as business 101 as it gets..which is what im saying. Do i openly acknowledge jeep is a biz to make money first? Of course i do. That doesnt make this car any less of a joke and shallow piece of marketing. The way they push it is an insult to anyones intelligence that knows better.

i read somewhere earlier today (in short) that jeep wanted to bring back the cherokee because of the less than stellar sales with the compass and patriot. and sadly i think its prolly gonna work. i agree with will here. they shoulda just kept the old nameplate and said fuck it. its a joke as a cherokee for sure
