I believe they should be able to be married, yes. I don't think churches (or whatever religious institution) should be forced to conduct same sex marriages if they don't want to, but at the same time there's plenty of them that support it .

What I don't tolerate is an ignorant response based solely on the "it's icky and I want to be a sheep and hate it because other people do" line of thinking.

Sorry hux, but in this case..... look at the poll. Which is really 19-1.

Dan's opinion is far from being a sheep.

Why do you always reference the sheep too?? Do you like them Sux?

Im pretty sure I was clear on my explanation. Or as clear as I could be and in no way did I ever convey that it was because I dont like gay people, or that I was following anyone elses opinion. In fact being the only one posting on this side of the argument I thought that was pretty obvious.
Funny how your opinion is so similar to Zullos though.....

I am not following whatsoever. What in this thread, specifically, has denied freedom of speech/expression/opinion?
I see a number of people with differing opinions speaking out freely against one another.

Oh really. So sorry! How terrible of me to have a similar opinion as someone. Ill make sure to change it for you.

I was more or less speaking about the whole debate in general, not the really the one occuring on this forum.

It's just a side issue about the whole movement that always rubbed me the wrong way.

Malcolm X vs. Dr. King type debate. best example i can think of.

My apologies for insinuating you're a hypocrite for calling me a sheep.(just in case we were unclear)
I guess I wouldnt really expect you to have a different opinion other than the popular one.
If my opinion seems to follow others in some way I can assure you that its no influence on me. I have not given this matter any thought since my last conversation with my wife about it a couple years ago. Maybe Im a sheep for siding with her after our discussion about it?

If we're going to consider having a similar opinion as being a sheep, then so be it. Our opinions, however similar, have a strong logical/factual backing, compared to an emotionally-based/commonly political-party-motivated decision to support it or denounce it. No I don't think you don't support same sex marriage because of political party beliefs or such, but lets face it... Not a whole lot of support to back it. Still boils down to the "I don't like it" mentality.

Fair enough. But cant the same be said for supporting it?

A valid point but still moot. What support do you have against it other than emotionally-based reasoning? I haven't once seen anyone here cite politics as their basis of opinion.

The whole marriage debate is only formed on opinion, so there is no wrong answer, merely difference of opinion. There are no facts to prove one side or the other.
Now we are getting to a valid discussion on this.

For a bunch of people that say this is a logic versus emotion debate, there sure are a lot of emotionally charged replies in here....
