Should marijuana be legalized in the US?

I have never been drunk in my entire life, but I have drank alcohol on countless occasions.

I think I am living proof why there is logic to alcohols legality...while i recognize your point, it isnt as cut and dry as that.

No. I haven't. However if someone i knew did heroin and constantly got ugly and aggressive from it, i wouldn't be hanging out with them for long.

People are going to continue to do heroin whether it be illegal or not. I don't see why i'd end up hanging out with heroin addicts if they legalized it.

Why would you have to be friends or choose to "hang out" with the person doing heroin? Have you never come into contact with anyone in life that wasnt your friend?

It would be pretty hard to harm someone. Chances of harming someone while driving is about the same as being sober. If there was more stoned people driving everyone would take there time and treat every stop light as a stop sign lololol

I see your point. However i don't think the lawmakers have alcohol legal for the reason that if you only take a sip of it you won't be as messed up as someone who just injected heroin.

It's really a hard thing to debate. I don't think if it became legal it would become socially acceptable, i think it would retain the same negative attention, but who knows.

this whole topic really is difficult to debate. it makes for one HELL of a conversation however...there really is no "solution" imho....legal or not people will still use it is about the only thing that im sure we can all agree upon

I've come into contact with plenty of people in my life that weren't my friends. When this happens, i begin to talk to them. I learn a little bit about them, and if i like what i'm hearing i'll befriend them.

I've never come into contact with someone doing something that i was against were i couldn't leave the room/area on my own freewill. If i wanted to leave/get away from it, i could of done it with my own two feet.

I still think i'm missing what you're trying to get me to answer. What would you like me to answer?

As i stated earlier, there is no correct answer in this debate. I can go my way all night, and you will continue to go yours. I understand that. You can come up with 100 reasons something should be legalized and then come up with 100 reasons why it shouldn't be legalized. I don't think there a correct answer, and i don't think anyone will ever agree fully with each other.

Here is what I can see happening. Over the years there have been many studies and what have you to say marijuana is good for you, not bad, etc etc. Once they legalize it there will be another push to get another drug legalized. They will make claims and what have you about it and it will end up in the same boat marijuana is currently in. It will never stop until its all legalized and then there will still be a problem. I don't see a real solution to any of it.

I thought the title of this thread was should MARIJUANA be legalized in the US, not heroin...

I smoke pot everyday, many of my friends and family smoke pot. Many people for different reasons, some just like to get stupid stoned and play video games, others have diseases/problems that a smoking a little ganj helps.

I think it should be legalized.
